A few days after she and Danny had gone over to Cai’s house, and about a week after Zoe had turned eighteen, Cai and Zoe met after school to talk about visions.

Cai had to head home first. Roe had started attending a school not far from London College for a couple of afternoon lessons a week, so he walked past it to meet her on his way home. After that, Dom was also home from work and let him borrow the car to get to Zoe’s, on the promise that he’d pick up groceries on his way home. Cai had passed his driver’s test first time, which was one of his proudest accomplishments, and the feeling was still new enough that he was happy to do almost any chore so long as it involved driving.

After a long day messing around in the park, Zoe had invited everyone around to her place for dinner. While Dylan couldn't go, Danny realised he could. And though he didn't usually go around to other people's houses, especially not if he didn't know them that well, he decided it would be okay. Especially since Zoe's mothers were lesbians. They wouldn't look twice at him!

He jogged home to drop off Wolf, for a shower and to change his clothes. Then he returned to the park where one of Zoe's mothers was going to pick them up. Their car was impressive and he lapsed into silence as Rachel chattered to the woman who had been introduced to him as Liz.

Once they arrived at Zoe's house, Danny stared up at it in awe. "It's huge," he whispered to Rachel as they exited the car.
Even though Zoe had extended the invitation for Rachel to come over to her house it took the girls ages to actually do it. A week after that first invitation, Rachel had made good on what she'd said in one of her letters I'll try anything once and had climbed the roof of the gymnasium on a dare from a boy in their PE class, had been given suspension for the rest of the week and was grounded till Christmas.

After that she was a little more subdued. "I got in so much trouble," she told Zoe, when Rachel was allowed back at school (after signing a contract that specifically stated she would follow the rules). "My dad and my step mum fought about me for ages."

Alastair entered the Kemp Manor, whistling a jaunty tune as he did so. "Gay fathers?!" He called through the house and he stuck his head into the living room to find Liz and Emma laughing on the sofa. "Whoops, wrong gay couple. Hey, guys!"

Liz was feeling guite sick to her stomach as she walked down the hopsital corridor on her way to Emma's room. She had finally decided, with the help of Dietrich, that she needed to see the woman who was still, according to law, her wife. Dietrich was being beyond understanding as supportive. That actually made going to see Emma harder, though he wouldn't have understood that. Liz knew, deep down, that Emma wasn't going to go anywhere this time. She just knew that. Because, despite the terrible thing Emma had done, Liz still knew her, deep down. And eventually, Liz was going to have to choose what she was going to do about that.

First things first. "Zoe doesn't miss you." Hope announced to Emma, by way of greeting. She was hovering in the doorway of Emma's hospital room and Emma hadn't noticed her until she spoke. Upon hearing her daughter's voice, however, Emma turned quickly to lay eyes on her. Once again, she was overcome by guilt, and she probably should have been.

"Hope..."

Emma had no recollection of being rescued. Which made sense, as she was unconscious at the time. When consciousness filtered back to her, and she found herself to be quite without pain, she jumped to the obvious conclusion. She was dead. She had obviously moved on to the Beyond and Thomas would be there to welcome her, as she didn't even know he wasn't dead anymore...

One thing that could be said about Peter Kemp...he kept his word. And it didn't matter who you were, that never changed. Caoilfhionn was given a room in his hospital and the door was not locked on her. She knew all she had to do to keep that very thing true was not to hurt anyone. Caoilfhionn liked hurting people, but she also liked Peter. And he was the only one who had ever been nice to her simply because he could be. Bishop Holden had been plenty nice. But Caoilfhionn had been plenty useful. Right up until she'd snapped his neck. Caoilfhionn wasn't going to snap Peter's neck. No. She did buy him flowers from the hospital gift shop with some money she stole...from the hospital gift shop. Luckily, he didn't know where the money had come from, and he didn't ask. He simply gave her a hug and that was when the call came. Ryn had found the Templar and he knew where they were keeping Emma.

For days, Peter had dreamt of nothing but...well...nothing. All of his visions had come to him during skull-shattering seizures which was probably one of his least favourite things ever. But it seemed that fate, or what have you, was finally willing to give Peter, or more succinctly, the object of his dreams, a break.

Peter was holding a wiggly little Thomas when he answered the phone and it wasn't exactly easy to juggle both of them at once. He headed over to the sofa to sit, shifting Thomas to his lap. "Hello!?" He asked his voice sounding appropriately busy.
