They had one day left to fine Danny and Deirdre was beginning to get more than a little frantic. It had been her responsibility to watch over Danny in the first place, and a tragedy involving her brother had drawn her attention away. If that driver ended up causing two casualties, Deirdre was going to hate herself for a very long time. Not that Dylan was dead yet, but Deirdre was fairly pessimistic about his prognosis.
Thomas had taken to driving, and he wasn't keen on discussing the fact that Spectre had gone with Flynn instead of him. Deirdre was aware, distantly, that something had happened in Glasgow, but she didn't really have time to worry about the state of her friends' marriage. She was just happy enough to have him with her; and happier still that at the last moment, Zoe had decided to join them. Deirdre understood. They had done day and Zoe was getting as frantic as Deirdre was.

Considering how horrified Danny had been after his nightmare, Cai's attempts to cheer him up with his antics were much appreciated. It hadn't made him smile like it might have on a normal day, but it had made him feel a little less panicky about the world in general.
Still, by the time fifteen minutes had passed, Danny was waiting outside for Cai's car, his arms wrapped around his chest as he paced the footpath. What he hadn't expected, and what froze his blood in his veins for a moment, was hearing his name called by a voice he didn't immediately recognise.

After a long day messing around in the park, Zoe had invited everyone around to her place for dinner. While Dylan couldn't go, Danny realised he could. And though he didn't usually go around to other people's houses, especially not if he didn't know them that well, he decided it would be okay. Especially since Zoe's mothers were lesbians. They wouldn't look twice at him!
He jogged home to drop off Wolf, for a shower and to change his clothes. Then he returned to the park where one of Zoe's mothers was going to pick them up. Their car was impressive and he lapsed into silence as Rachel chattered to the woman who had been introduced to him as Liz.
Once they arrived at Zoe's house, Danny stared up at it in awe. "It's huge," he whispered to Rachel as they exited the car.

Peter had been busy confirming reservations for his anniversary the next day when Thomas pranced in his front door. Peter held his finger up to his best friend who mimed locking his lips and throwing away the key. "Seven thirty? Okay, thank you very much. Yes, we'll see you then." Peter hung up the phone and then he smiled. "They had to rearrange our dinner booking, but it's all worked out. How are you, Thomas?"

Spectre had been staying at Deirdre’s since having a fight with Thomas that had ended badly. Both of them being interrupted by their son James who had overheard much of the fight. Spectre had told himself he was giving Thomas time, but the truth was that he didn’t want to speak to Thomas. He was avoiding it with all his might, as he was sure that the second he finally confronted his husband again, their marriage would be over. He wasn’t sure he was ready for that.

After his talk with Abby and what had happened with Erin, Thomas decided talking to Spectre couldn't wait. There was something wrong in their relationship and clearly Spectre was content to simply ignore it and continue on as if it wasn't there. Thomas couldn't do it any more. He was tired of feeling uncomfortable in his home and dodging his family. Tired of sleeping on the sofa and wondering when his husband would come home, if at all.

One of the drawbacks of not speaking to his husband very often, was that he had no idea when Spectre was due to return from Greece. After his talk with Stephie, Thomas had thought hard about how things had been between them and he had been so distracted by worrying about the state of their relationship and the people who had gone to help with the rescue mission against the Templar, that Thomas had sort of even forgotten Spectre was gone. It wasn't as if they saw much of each other when Spectre was around.

Time was, Deirdre hated it when Peter didn't include her in a raid against the Templar or a rescue mission. And then her girlfriend had gone on one and ended up dead. If Peter asked, Deirdre would go and help in a heartbeat, because she owed him. But now Peter didn't ask, and Deirdre was secretly glad. She had twins to think about, and they had already lost their other mother, before they had even been born. All they needed was to lose their biological mother. Then they would be left with Giles and god knew that was a train wreck waiting to happen.

It wasn't often Peter actually took a planned lunch break. Planning things at the hospital was an exercise in futility. Inevitably Connie would consider it a good idea to run streaking past Bentley who would end up with a terrible nosebleed, or Paige would levitate something into someone's path and trip them, or someone would have a vision of impending doom that had to be dealt with right then and there. Peter had learned early on to avoid plans as much as possible, but some things couldn't be avoided. Patrick Finnegan was leaving the hospital to live in his own apartment and Peter wanted to sit with him for a meal. For that, he would make time and he actually believed by the time it was halfway through, that his plans would see themselves to the end.
They were not that lucky.

Thomas had been avoiding his family for the last couple months, not because he didn't actually want to see them, but because he knew they would ask about Spectre. Thomas didn't want to talk about Spectre right now. He knew they would instantly note that something was wrong, since that was how the Littletons were. Thomas didn't want there to be anything wrong. So he avoided the issue altogether.

Thomas was sitting on the sofa in their living room, his son on his knee while his daughter Katya sat on the floor, drawing a picture of something round and purple. James was reading to Thomas, showcasing his incredible brilliance for a boy who had just turned five. The book he was reading was easily fourth-grade level, but that was often the way things went with angels.
