Thomas was better, meaning Flynn didn't have to worry about him anymore. It was a weight off his shoulders, which was a relief in itself. He hadn't let himself feel the worry for his friend, but now that it wasn't there anymore, he noticed the absence of it. It had been there all along, buried deeply under layers of protective walls and anguish.

The hospital was a place of chaos at the moment, but for the most part...the chaos was good. The Templar had tried their hand at attacking the people Peter loved, and they'd failed. The battle for Robert MacGavillary Hospital was short and simple, considering Rolf's idea of bringing back 4 dead people to take the front line. Six if you added in Robert and Thomas. The Templar's tranquiliser darts were useless against them, and the demons who came behind the front line made short work of the Templar. Peter had stipulated that they should be taken alive if it was at all possible. It hadn't all been possible. But the holding cells under St. Francis's were full to bursting now, not to mention the few of them that had been taken to jail when police arrived at the various houses that had been attacked.

Lavinia had been through a lot in her 77 years. She'd fallen in love. Three times to be exact. And each time it had ended in heart break, but she was always thankful for what she'd had before that end. Yes, even with Bernard Littleton who had left her high and dry with five children to take care of. That had been her biggest obstacle. Five children plus no money equaled big problems. But somehow, they'd always gotten through. Until Thomas had died. She'd lost a darling son and each of her children and herself had had to rebuild their lives from the trusses up. She'd been incredibly happy, and so sad she feared she would never function again. But she always had. Lavinia Littleton was a lion at heart, and nothing would keep her down. Through all of it, her children were always her treasures. Her gift. The thing she lived for and the thing she would die for if it was warranted.

By the time Peter, Tasha and Anna approached the house at 137 Prince Albert Road, it was already quite full. Flynn was sitting on Quinn's lap, Stuart and Abby were in the kitchen arguing over silly things and swatting each other with ladles. Jax was visiting too, and Thomas was reading Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone aloud to Mara as she snuggled up against Spectre on the sofa.

There was nothing more that Abby could do in Bristol. Julian had well and truly proven that if he didn't want to be found, they weren't going to find him. And Joe had Lavinia, Eleanor and Jordan to look after him. Thomas didn't have anyone in his family and while Abby knew he was surrounded by friends, she rather wanted him to have family by his side as well. It was important. And she was damn sure he didn't want other people touching him right now. She would keep him from that as much as she could.

Even as it was happening, Peter's funeral seemed so beyond surreal. The chapel at the hospital was full fit to burst with people who had come to mourn the loss of Peter Kemp. Stuart was officiating and despite his years in the clergy, he found that it was impossible to come up with the right words to say. So instead he borrowed Peter's words, opting to read passages from Peter's journals about the importance of love and family, artfully leaving out all mentions of angels or demons or anything else supernatural. People were allowed to say a few words, and those that were able to got up and shared memories or feelings or thoughts. Deirdre went on for nearly 20 minutes because that's what Deirdre did. No one minded. They were focused on Peter, resting in front of them like he was asleep. He was dressed in the suit he'd been married in to cover up his scars, and his hands were folded lightly across his chest. His first journal rested beneath them. It seemed only fitting that he be interred with it.

After the service, everyone relocated to the mausoleum that Aly had purchased. It was a large stone building with ornate iron work and a large chandelier hanging from the ceiling. And it was theirs now, it belonged to the family. Aly had placed some vases in the corners that had belonged to Louise. Flowers were placed in them, and Peter rested in the middle so people could see him one last time before he was lifted up and slid into his place in the top row. It was very informal, because that's how Peter would have liked it. Aly was hanging back, not yet ready to say goodbye. She let other people see him first. She knew how very important her husband was to...well...everyone. Instead of crowding, she leaned against the outside of the mausoleum, holding baby Thomas who was strangely still, and she cried softly as she stared up at the cloudy sky.

The cruise for Peter's birthday was absolutely perfect. Peter loved it. He loved that he got to spend the time with his friends and family and there certainly were a lot of those around tonight... He was thrilled to hear Spectre and Derek Sherinian playing, and Deirdre sang occasionally too. It was wonderful. Even if he had doubled the amount of pain killers he was taking just to numb his stupid aching head. Once he was headache free, he was able to enjoy himself immensely. He had a wonderful chat with Dimitri and Sergei, and he laughed as Tasha danced with Hope and Fiona all at once. He danced with Aly too. And then with his daughters all in turn. Even Caleb wanted to dance, but only so he could stand on Peter's shoes and get a 'ride'. Lavannah was sitting by the railing chatting with Gavin, though she was watching Johanna with someone else who Peter recognised was Will. Evey kept running up to Will and then darting away again to chat with Deirdre and her girls as well. Every time there was a break in the music, Spectre was followed around by Jacinta and Edward Montgomery, and they proceeded to parent him. He looked oddly pleased. Abigail and Stuart were dancing and looking quite happy. Even Robert looked okay, though he hung back away from the action. Thomas was talking with Mary and Kat who was rolling her daughters back and forth in the stroller as she talked. People were everywhere, dancing and laughing and eating.

And then Peter started to feel a little strange. He excused himself from Aly's presence and he slipped down under the deck into one of the small hallways so he could lean up against the thin wall. It might be that he was just a little motion sick, but the cruise had ended about twenty minutes ago and the boat was now docked. It was gently rocking back and forth, but nothing major. And still Peter felt incredibly dizzy. He put a hand to his head and he crouched down a little, willing himself not to be sick.
