The hospital was a place of chaos at the moment, but for the most part...the chaos was good. The Templar had tried their hand at attacking the people Peter loved, and they'd failed. The battle for Robert MacGavillary Hospital was short and simple, considering Rolf's idea of bringing back 4 dead people to take the front line. Six if you added in Robert and Thomas. The Templar's tranquiliser darts were useless against them, and the demons who came behind the front line made short work of the Templar. Peter had stipulated that they should be taken alive if it was at all possible. It hadn't all been possible. But the holding cells under St. Francis's were full to bursting now, not to mention the few of them that had been taken to jail when police arrived at the various houses that had been attacked.

It was still hard to feel overjoyed when there had been loss. Little Ella had been stabbed and killed. So many of the people Peter loved were in incredible pain. And Lavannah had been shot in the chest and she was in the middle of a complicated surgery they had only given her a 20% chance of surviving. If they lost Lavannah, Peter's brother-in-law, David lost his adopted daughter. And Peter...he lost his link to his mother. Lavannah was a medium who happened to have the spirit of Peter's mother as her constant companion. Peter didn't want to lose Louise all over again, nor did he want to lose darling Lavannah. He couldn't believe the Templar had attacked people's homes. It was disgusting and this was the cost.

Deirdre rushed into Peter's room as his last bullet wound was stitched up. "Peter!" She called, rushing to hug him.

"Hello, Sweetheart." Peter said, his voice sounding beyond tired. "How are your girls."

"Okay, I guess. I saw them totally get stabbed, Peter. It was fucked up. I'm glad they're like you. Unkillable." Her hands brushed Peter's arm, which was covered in scars from previous days and nights like tonight. Peter would bear the scars from tonight too. Forever, because he too was unkillable. "Renee's upset about Ella. It sucks. She wasn't even a part of this. It's stupid."

"Mind-numbingly stupid." Peter agreed, just as Thomas walked in.

"You talkin' about me?!" Thomas asked, pointing at his face with both hands.

"Not at the moment." Peter grinned to see his best friend. He loved it when Thomas was here. It had only been a few days since he'd last seen him, but he loved it anyway. "I got shot!"

"I saw. Three times that didn't go straight on through. And you still tried to crawl up the damn stairs to get to your family. You're full on, Peter Kemp." Thomas informed him.

"I wasn't being held back. So I had to keep going forward. That bastard Holden took my babies away. Robert took them back, but...I thought it was over. My dreams...that horrible future I saw in my dreams...I thought it was going to happen. Then Caoilfhionn stopped it."

Deirdre took a seat in one of the little plastic chairs. "She fought really well too. Which is kind of odd, considering she helped arrange the battle and then she helped to end it..."

Peter shrugged. "I'm not going to look into her mouth."

Thomas raised his eyebrows. "What?!"

"You know like...gifthorse...mouth...don't look into a gift horses...nevermind. I'm very tired. Hey, I bet you those Trojans wished they had looked their gifthorse in the mou...I should...stop using my mouth..."

"Nah, you're cute when you do that." Deirdre informed him. "Though if Caoilfhionn is our Trojan Horse...that's a problem. She's not Greek, right?"

"Her name is Caoilfhionn and she's from Belfast! No she's not Greek!" Peter took a deep breath then. "And she just fucking saved the World. Seven years ago, she was writing me messages on orphanage walls with the blood of the innocent, and today she saved the world. I thought I was supposed to overthrow Holden...not that I had a clue how... But...she did it."

"Peter...did you take a second to think about why?" Thomas asked, kneeling down then and swinging Peter's legs to face him so he could rest his chin on one. "She didn't turn on Holden from any lack of love. She loved the guy. Caoilfhionn was as loyal to that man as she was to anyone. Except you. But he didn't take her to the zoo. Or give her hugs. She left you messages in blood, and you still care about her. Do you think she would have turned on him if you left her alone that night in the zoo. Or if you didn't talk to her like she matters? He treated her like a weapon. You treat her like you treat...everyone. She saved the world, yeah. Especially since genius me brought Deirdre right to you without thinking and if they'd taken her out too, they just would have kept trying until they did eventually get everyone else. But there was a reason she did what she did. And that was you."

Peter bit his lip and he smiled up at Thomas. "Well...I...okay. I'll keep slipping her lollies then..."

Deirdre snorted. "Good idea. Come on, Care Bear." Deirdre extended a hand to Peter. "I think there's people who could do with seeing you." And she let Peter lean heavily against her as she led him out into the waiting room where so many people were gathered.
