When Peter entered his living room to see his son Caleb running naked through it, laughing like a madman before he turned and headed for the stairs, Peter knew it was going to be One of Those Nights. He stood in the center of the living room, frozen, a bemused look on his face and when Aly entered from the kitchen, she smiled at him. "Did you see Caleb?"

An eleven-year-old Peter was standing in front of his drunken father as the man went on and on about how he was a disappointment to the family. Peter had been the recipient of a rather nasty-looking black eye and Klaus Kempf was of the opinion that Peter should have given the boy who had caused it a black eye in return. Peter wasn't like that. He wasn't a fighter. So he stood in front of his father, his head bowed in shame, waiting for his father to tire of his tirade.

Peter certainly had not expected his thirteen-year-old daughter to come tromping home with her hair newly purple. In fact, when Peter first looked out the window to see who was making their way up the walk, he thought Lydia had brought home a friend. Then he blinked and realised the girl with the purple hair was Lydia. Peter rubbed his lips with his one hand for a moment as he was holding baby Thomas in the other, and he watched her before he went to the door to greet Lydia, Anna and Caleb.

Peter was standing just outside the kitchen, smoking and hiding both at the same time. You couldn't hide from Caleb, however. He noticed the smoke going past the window and he leaned out the door, giving Peter a critical look. "Daddy, are you smoking?"

The hospital was a place of chaos at the moment, but for the most part...the chaos was good. The Templar had tried their hand at attacking the people Peter loved, and they'd failed. The battle for Robert MacGavillary Hospital was short and simple, considering Rolf's idea of bringing back 4 dead people to take the front line. Six if you added in Robert and Thomas. The Templar's tranquiliser darts were useless against them, and the demons who came behind the front line made short work of the Templar. Peter had stipulated that they should be taken alive if it was at all possible. It hadn't all been possible. But the holding cells under St. Francis's were full to bursting now, not to mention the few of them that had been taken to jail when police arrived at the various houses that had been attacked.

Peter couldn't get Tamm's comment to Stephie out of his head. I have to do well now. I can't keep freaking out about the shit that happened, cos what's that gonna do to my baby? I guess I'm following in Peter's footsteps like that. I know a big part of why he can deal the way he does is because of his kids. Peter knew Tamm to be absolutely right. The reason he could do what he did was because of his kids, and Aly of course. And if there was Hell coming their way, he was going to fight it for them.

Mornings in the Kemp house were never calm. They were never quiet. But none of the inhabitants would want it to be any different. Weekends were generally calmer than weekdays, as there was much less scrambling for homework involved. But occasionally a Saturday morning threatened to break the sound barrier. Aly was in the kitchen, sitting in front of Thomas whom she was feeding cereal while she spoke to him softly in Spanish. Peter was making a nice healthy breakfast for everyone else, while Lavannah and Gavin taught Lydia to dance over in the corner.

Peter was standing in his kitchen for the first time in a long time, staring at the cupboard where the tea was supposed to be. Only he wasn't staring at tea, he was staring at several appliances he'd never seen before in his life, or so he believed. He couldn't imagine what in the world the appliances were actually for. He knew they scared him... Caleb wandered in to the kitchen and he gave Peter a worried glance. "What are you looking for, Daddy?"

Helping Caleb with his maths homework was generally a tedious time because Caleb hated it so much, and almost any interruption would have been welcomed. But when the alarm for the Kemp House perimeter went off, Peter thought that 'any interruption' might need to be re-evaluated. They weren't expecting anyone. Anyone who was welcome on the property knew the code to bypass the system. Trouble was on it's way and when Anna turned to Peter with fear in her eyes and said simply, "Daddy...demon...bad..." Peter was on his shaky feet in an instant.

Even when Aly felt like dying, life still went on. And on and on. It probably didn't help matters that she was too afraid to have her children in the house with her. If the Templar got their hands on her children...it would be the worst thing she could imagine. Worse than Peter dying. And she knew she should be with them, but she couldn't bring herself to leave Peter's home. At least, not until she had to go to the doctor's for a checkup. That was one of those things about life going on that annoyed Aly. She couldn't just lie in bed and cry (but thank everything for Angie who was taking care of most everything else). She had things she needed to do, and making sure her unborn child was safe was one of them.
