Mornings in the Kemp house were never calm. They were never quiet. But none of the inhabitants would want it to be any different. Weekends were generally calmer than weekdays, as there was much less scrambling for homework involved. But occasionally a Saturday morning threatened to break the sound barrier. Aly was in the kitchen, sitting in front of Thomas whom she was feeding cereal while she spoke to him softly in Spanish. Peter was making a nice healthy breakfast for everyone else, while Lavannah and Gavin taught Lydia to dance over in the corner.
And then, without warning, Anna ran through the kitchen, wings out, while Caleb chased her laughing manically. Aly turned to see them and she shook her head. "Anna, you'd better put those away before Angie wakes up!" She warned, as if a child with wings was the most natural thing in the world. And in this house, it really was... SAly was answered only by a giggle as the kids ran back into the living room.
"I'm on it." Peter said softly, leaning in to kiss his wife before he followed Anna and Caleb. The were currently chasing each other around the coffeetable. "One of you is going to do something medical..." Peter yelped, leaning against the wall with his arms folded.
"You own a hospital!" Caleb said, hot on Anna's heels.
"That's...true.." Peter blinked. Darn quick thinking children. Then he winced as Anna nearly tripped over the sofa leg, but she righted herself. "For goodness sake this is not safe!"
"She stole my ice bear armour!" Caleb said, though really, he didn't sound upset at all. More enjoying the chase really.
"It's pretty!" Anna called back, flapping her wings as if to say 'come and get me'.
"Right...stopping now." Peter stepped in and he caught Caleb around the middle easily. He lifted the laughing boy off the ground and he held him upside down. "That solves that."
"Why are you on her side, Daddy?!" Caled asked, laughing and squirming.
"'Cause you were closer." Peter said with a grin. He transferred Caleb to two arms and then he turned to Anna. "Your mother was right about the wings, Liebchen."
Anna's wings faded away and she grinned up at her father. "I want breakfast!"
"You're in luck, because I have that!" He carried Caleb back to the kitchen and he placed him down on the counter beside Aly. "Madam, your son."
Aly laughed and she shook her head. "You know better than to run in the house, Ice Bear." She chastised Caleb.
Caleb jumped off the counter and he kissed his mother's cheek. "Siento mucho a madre." And he gave her a little charming smile.
Aly wrinkled her nose at him. He was going to be a heartbreaker one day. "La disculpa aceptó mi querido."
Peter blinked and Anna looked up at him. "Was haben Sie gesagt?" She asked Peter with her eyebrows raised.
Peter merely shrugged. "I dunno." And he kissed Anna's head as all of them calmed down and headed to the table.
