Ry held the note that Jocelin had left in his hands. Even after reading it seven times over, the contents hadn't changed.

"Bloody hell," was all he muttered, but it was without heat because Jocelin had, of course, included the one excuse that Ry was legitimately able to both understood and accept within his two line explanation.

He was torn between calling Chloe and leaving things be; torn between one very good friend and another.

Another day begins, and now I'm thinking )

Stephie had spent the drive back to Toronto arguing happily with Lars about movies and seeing how long she could hold her hand out the window before the cold became unbearable. Her record was eight minutes, and it took about that long for her to defrost her fingers under her arm before she could try again. Lars dropped her off at the airport, and, buzzing with nervous flying solo nerves, Stephie went to check in her luggage only to find that her plane was having issues and was going to take a while before it could get off the ground.

This wouldn't have been too bad if it wasn't trying to get off the ground in Russia, and would take god knows how long to even arrive in Toronto.
Well, isn't this nice? )

'Unlock your door', Stephie sent Ry in a text from the corner of his street, 'im almost there.'

It was a warm night, full of wind, and she'd taken her time walking over. Her footsteps had been slow, not out of any need not to get there, but because her head was full of thoughs and dragging her feet gave her time to sort them out. Even though, by the time she sat down on his front step, (not wanting to knock incase she woke the other housemates- Ry would be down soon enough anyway) her head still wasn't any clearer.

Oh- I'll tell you in person.

Ry glanced at his computer screen... then swivelled his head in the direction of his doorway. Oookay then. She'd been allusive about this since Monday... and it was now Wednesday, checking by the clock on his computer. Time was up. If she was posting to him while they were both online, then she was awake enough in her own room to tell him what was up.

Slapping on a charming smile to his features, Ry wandered idly down the hall and leaned ominously in Slink's doorway; just standing there, waiting for her to tell him in person )

Ry came from his shower feeling cleaned and refreshed like he hadn't done in... too many days now. Towels at Jocelin's house had a way of just not getting washed, and so once washed and cleaned in the shower over there - unless you chose to drip-dry after - you went straight back to being dirty again.

He'd almost be better off at Del's house next time he needed some time and space away; braving the old aunt in the process - if she even allowed him to stay over there. )

Post Slink's little explosion, Ry had managed to find time to grab the cordless and close himself in his room without anybody really noticing. In his hand, he held the little scrap of paper that had Rhea's number on it. He'd been deliberating for days over whether to call her again like he had said he would. Of course, right now when the hang over was no longer, seemed like a good time to call his eight-year-old half sister.

Getting up from his computer, he grabbed some pants off the floor and headed out of his room. It was a mystery to him how Slink had managed to get from one point of his room to the bed without hardly making a sound. There was more than one reason that girl was impressive, apparently.

He couldn't believe it had taken him this long to actually connect the thoughts of his mother getting rid of the house and the fact that that would leave money in her pocket afterwards. Money that he had just as much right to in the end.

Now, the trick would be contacting her in one of her moments when she was lucid enough to actually realise that it was an incoming call and answer the phone.

He had been putting this off ever since Renee had said the word 'Hemlock' over her cup of Chai. Then suddenly, as soon as the hospital had said those words to him this morning, this had been the first thing he had set about doing. Not 'thought' about doing, so much. He had pocketed money and headed out the front door of his house before even giving much thought to where he was supposed to be going.

You at the skate park? had been the txt sent to Jocelin on the way.

In the meantime, he'd had plenty of time mulling over in his head the brief but meaningful conversation on the phone.

Am I talking to Ryan Chambers? )

It was still the early afternoon. Such an odd time for him to be awake. But he was restless. And he had to go out toady and meet up with Jocelin anyway. Ry picked up his mobile phone and quickly txted; What time you at skate park?

Of all the surprising things, there had actually been dinner waiting in the kitchen when Ry returned home in the evening. Ry actually scratched the side of his face in wonder of whether or not the food could be poisoned.

"Oh, eat yer meal and stop being so damned girl-dainty about it," his father called out from in front of the television. "What is that you're wearin' today anyway? You tryin' to be a lad or a woman?"

Ry did his best to tune the words of his father out of his mind. )
