Getting up from his computer, he grabbed some pants off the floor and headed out of his room. It was a mystery to him how Slink had managed to get from one point of his room to the bed without hardly making a sound. There was more than one reason that girl was impressive, apparently.

He couldn't believe it had taken him this long to actually connect the thoughts of his mother getting rid of the house and the fact that that would leave money in her pocket afterwards. Money that he had just as much right to in the end.

Now, the trick would be contacting her in one of her moments when she was lucid enough to actually realise that it was an incoming call and answer the phone.

One ring.

Two rings.

Three rings was actually pretty normal to have to wait for a person to answer.

Four rings and she still hadn't answered.

Five rings and Ry swore aloud.

Six rings was about the time when Ry was muttering under his breath, thankful that nobody else seemed to be home at present.

Seven rings had him almost about to hang up. The soft answering voice on the other end of the phone only stopped him just in time.

"Mum?" Ry questioned.

"Ry. Is that you?"

The voice was whispy, but identifiable as his mother's. Ry just rolled his eyes. "Yeah, it's me, mum. How's the house hunting going?"

"The house... there was a nice real estate man who came by on Saturday..."

"Yes mum, but are you selling the house? When are you selling the house?" Ry questioned impatiently.

"Well... he did say something about..." His mother rambled on a little bit. Ry tuned out as he tried to think of a nice way of getting the money out of his mother.

"Uh, mum," Ry interrupted eventually. Subtlety be damned. "You're going to get a fair amount of money for that house once it's all done, aren't you?"

"Yes, I suppose I will," his mother realised dreamily.

"And so, I guess, you wouldn't mind handing some of that over my way," Ry said, "To help me with settling into my new house?"

He was willing to place a bet that his mother was going to be unable to remember exactly how long ago her only son had moved into Victoria Lane, if she had even bothered to look up where that was.

"I can help you out, Ry," her mother said. Ry could see the dreamy smile that would lift her lips in his head and felt ill. "Yes, I will give you money. When would you like it?"

"Whenever you have it is fine," Ry said, shaking his head. Why couldn't his mother be like any other normal mother anyway? "I guess we can meet up sometime this week and change over the money?"

"And coffee? I like coffee," his mother mentioned.

"Coffee as well then. Say, Thursday night?" said Ry. "Cool. I'll pay. I will see you tomorrow then, okay mum? At 5."

Ry waited a couple of moments while his mother made her whispy half comments. He'd gotten what he wanted. Now all he wanted to do was run down the street and offer the money that he was going to have tomorrow night at the man giving his bike away at a bloody steal to make sure that he didn't take it into his head to give it to some other random walk-by.

Plan.
