The kids were in bed, James snuggled up to Katya because he was, in his own words, 'keeping her safe'. When Thomas was assured that they were both safe, he went to get sustenance for his spouses and then he joined them in the room they were staying in. He found them both curled up on the bed, talking quietly to each other about simple, happy things. They all knew what was about to come and it wasn't happy at all. "Hi," Thomas said with a grin and when they both turned and smiled at him, he felt his heart melt into happy goo for the hundredth time that day. "I brought a late dinner."

Peter wasn't sure what he was going to do if Thomas got any worse. Thomas wouldn't even look at Peter now. And Peter understood it was because he was hungry and thirsty and if they stayed stuck in here it would get worse and worse. Thomas had had terrible nightmares of watching his husband and son suffer as he had suffered. Now he was locked in with Peter, having to watch Peter go through it.

Yep, totally platonic... )

Peter should have realised taken it as a bad sign when Thomas’ car shuddered and died as it rolled into the centre of the abandoned town of Old Wildborough. Thomas’ car was a 2009 Aston Martin and there was no reason for it to simply stop in the middle of the empty street, with no prior warning or problems. It had even travelled up the badly kept streets and forgotten country roads that wended their way to the town’s heart just fine. Now there was nothing but silence. The engine didn’t even respond when Thomas tried to turn the key. “Well,” he said, trying not to look scared, “...here we are anyway...”

Amaris was going to kill him. Thomas knew that now. She would be the death of him. His escape back to his family had been a dream. He had never left that dank hole in the middle of nowhere. Morgana and Jeremy hadn't found him. He was still there. That was why he hadn't gained weight even through the best efforts Peter's hospital, Deirdre and his spouses had. His mind had come up with a delusion to explain his continued starvation. Some bullshit reason like his metabolism had sped up. He knew it was utter crap, but part of him was thankful for it. He was thankful for the delusion. The compensation. Anything was better than the truth. That no matter how long he held out, Amaris was going to finish him off in the end. No one knew he was missing. Aurelia wasn't dead. She was still pretending to be him. Still enjoying the hospitality of his loved ones in his place. His safety was an illusion. All just a dream.
