When Flynn awoke he had a slight panic because he didn't know where he was. Upon looking around, he realised he was in his childhood home and then he nearly panicked more because he was in his childhood home, but then everything came flooding back to him.

The panic faded away. The melancholy remained.

It wasn't his loved ones he was running from. It wasn't even himself. Flynn had accepted that he was indeed what Frankie had always said he was. A monster. There was no need to run from that if it was true. He was running now for the sake of the people still attached to him. They had enough monsters in their midst. They didn't need another.

Flynn could have done it on the phone. He could have, but he didn't want to. Instead he bundled Deirdre, Quinn, and Deirdre's children into one of Deirdre's roomier cars from Kait's motorcade, and he drove overnight. He hadn't been too sure about the babies, but Deirdre had insisted. They were demons. And hence, pretty impervious to harm. Still, Deirdre had to care for them in a small space (though she had least had the back seat to herself when Quinn wasn't helping her), and they had to make about twenty stops for dirty diapers. They took an early morning Cairnryan - Larne ferry, and arrived in Whitehead at about ten in the morning, after stopping for some food. Flynn didn't trust his parents to offer them nourishment. After all, they had kicked him out of his home when he was sixteen and left him to scrounge for his existence for six years.

Mara wasn't having as good a day as she'd had the previous day. Not because her attitude was any less positive, however. She was just as upbeat as she had been, but the pain in her chest was worse, due to swelling, or whatever was going on in there as she healed. Every breath caused her pain, and Flynn...not to mention everyone else...hated to see it. Which was why they gathered in her room to help plan out their new charitable venture to bring happiness to kids in an orphanage in South Africa. Both Abby and Stuart were at work, so Mara was surrounded by Flynn, Quinn and her brother, which always pleased her! Quinn was chatting to Spectre about logistics. He knew several places that would love to donate toys, and the library on the London University campus had lots of old books they could be asked to donate as well. Mara was watching them, a smile on her face, and Flynn was watching her, trying not to look worried. He liked that Mara girl. And she seemed so helpless sometimes, like Quinn had been while they were homeless and something deep inside Flynn just wanted to protect her and make everything better. "You're doing a great thing." Flynn smiled at her. "Everyone deserves a Squiggle and a Cupcake."
