Thomas had been avoiding his family for the last couple months, not because he didn't actually want to see them, but because he knew they would ask about Spectre. Thomas didn't want to talk about Spectre right now. He knew they would instantly note that something was wrong, since that was how the Littletons were. Thomas didn't want there to be anything wrong. So he avoided the issue altogether.

Godric was smoking out on his balcony, leaning over the railing. Noah was sitting in the corner, plucking lazily at a guitar he kind of only half-knew how to play. It was a rare afternoon when Noah didn't rush home to spend time with the twins, but Godric needed the company and Noah understood.

"What?" Razvan asked, closing the door behind him. "You were expecting someone else, Chief?"

Razvan had come home and headed straight for his room which usually meant he was annoyed and didn't want to talk to anyone. The exception to the rule always seemed to be Serenity. For some reason, Razvan, who never let himself be vulnerable with anyone else, let himself be vulnerable with her. And Serenity certainly wasn't going to knock that. She liked him too much.
