Thomas' birthday had been wonderful. Almost his entire family had come to be with him, and his best friend had been well enough to share it with him. Mara was back. Jordan was going to be fine. And Mary was here. Thomas had spent the previous year at a Spectre concert in Wolverhampton and they had had sucha wonderful time together afterwards, just them. It had been before all the shit with Kat and everything had seemed so simple. This year, though, even when things were complicated, Thomas was even happier. He didn't have to fade away soon. He got to stay. He had a family and a baby on the way. He had everything he had ever wanted. When the party ended and the concert began, Thomas was on such a high, he thought he could never come down.

Thomas was wrong.

Rolf forgot he looked like a teenage girl in order to attract the attention of the demon he assumed was Jillian. Rolf caught sight of Peter Kemp entering the hospital and he rushed forward to speak to him, thinking nothing was out of place.

It must be Tuesday! )

Mirela and Radu weren't making a great deal of progress, 'finding missing people' wise. Mirela was spending more time explaining things to Radu than making sure to feel out any demons, though she only really knew about such modern technology through second hand information, told to her by Peter. A man who didn't speak her language. And there weren't exactly Latin words for things like 'traffic light'. Mirela had spent almost her entire life in a tiny Romanian village, separated from things like electricity and cars, and Radu had spent nearly all of his in a cave. London was unfamiliar territory. Frightening even.

I don't think there's a proper title for this.... )

A dull sort of awareness had returned to Tasha, worming its way through the haze of her sedatives. She was unable to really move due to the sedatives, restraints notwithstanding, aside from a languid blinking of her eyes. Even turning her head seemed like too much effort. She just stared across the room at the door. Waiting. Waiting for someone to come to see her. Hell, even just waiting for another injection so that she could go back to sleep.

Absently, she wished there was a television or something in the room.

One good thing about travelling was that it taught you to find your way easily around unfamiliar places. So it was without too much trouble that Alexei located Regent's Park Children's Hospital, and the accompanying psychiatric ward. It felt so strange walking up to the desk and asking to see Natasha, explaining that he was an old friend from her homeland of Russia. She would be seventeen now, and had been only fifteen the last time he had seen her. How much would she have changed? From the sound of her shenanigans, not very much. But at the same time, he'd certainly never expected to find her in an institution like this...

Renee had gone into the hospital early in order to visit Tasha before heading into her own therapy session in the building just down the road. She was holding Tasha's hand and reading her some of her favourite Tolstoy when the girl's eyes fluttered gently open.

Tasha was about to respond to Jake once more when a terrible, agonising pain ripped through her body. She fell from her desk chair to the floor, writhing and screaming. Nothing could have prepared her for such searing agony. She couldn't hold back the screams at all. Her body twisted on the floor, finding absolutely no relief.

Another knock at the door. This was getting to be a habit, people arriving at Tasha's door who were most displeased with her. But she needed help, and Deirdre was the only one offering. She took care of Renee. She'd have to know something...

What she found when she opened the door, however, was far from comforting. Deirdre's face was covered in writhing maggots, her flesh hanging off in ragged chunks as the disgusting creatures fed on her putrefying flesh. Tasha let out a terrfied scream and stumbled back from the door, lacking the presence of mind to slam it against Deirdre. The door was out of her reach as the girl stepped inside, and now it was too late...

A day of hiding away in one's room was enough to make anybody peckish. Eventually, hunger became stronger than the fear of whatever might be out there, and Tasha made her way down to the kitchen.

As much as she hated to admit to any kind of weakness, the violence and hallucinations of the past few days had really done Tasha's head in. She needed to take a long, hot shower.

The water was blissful as it in ran over her, coursing through her hair, down her back, cascading over her breasts. She leaned back against the wall for a moment, just savouring the feeling. Not to mention savouring being alone.
