Peter was exhausted. He had been relaying messages back and forth between Jerome and Saul and Dead Meat contacts everywhere, as well as playing Daddy and Hospital Owner and Friend and every single one of the other roles he fulfilled on a daily basis. So when his wife Aly found him standing in their kitchen pantry looking lost, she wasn't terribly surprised.

Peter made his way down the stairs and into the basement guest room, even while carrying a tray of breakfast his wife had supplied him with to give to Jeremy. Apparently it was little matter that Peter himself was hungry. She wanted him to feed Jeremy first. Peter was fairly sure his brother was still asleep, and he grumbled about that the entire way down, though his ire was half-hearted. If Jeremy was awake, of course he wanted to feed the man.

Aly was stretched across a simple bed, staring up at the stone ceiling above them. She could hear the wind outside, howling it's way around the crumbling walls of the convent. Aly imagined there was some kind of terrible beast beyond the walls, and just maybe that was true. Maybe doom was waiting for them tomorrow, and they would all go down in the bloody flames of war. At least it would be warm.

Peter and Thomas were bouncing on Peter's most recent purchase in the back yard. It was a gigantic trampoline surrounded by netting to protect Peter's children from catapulting themselves off of it and into a tree or the shed or the ground. Peter liked it because the padding which covered the springs was teal and purple, and when he bounced on it, there was a point where it felt like he might not come back down again. Especially when Thomas did a sneaky double bounce, which meant that when Peter came back down, the trampoline came up to meet his feet, vaulting Peter into the air where he usually let out an unmanly squeal and came back to the trampoline on all fours. "THOMAS!" he hissed when he landed. "Don't send me to the moon!"

After feeling comparitively okay the last few days, Peter was now ready to admit he was sick. It was as if someone flipped a switch over night and Peter was stricken with a fever, malaise, and the inability to breathe correctly. Which was just not fair in the grand scheme of things, he decided. He had just been rescued from his Templar prison, and now he was imprisoned in his bed, unable to move. Worse, he didn't want to. He didn't want to do anything beyond lie there and moan while the full effect of his illness slammed into him all at once.

Lydia entered her parents' room just in time to see her father bend over in a fit of coughing, which looked like it was rather uncomfortable. She leaned against the wall with a worried look on her face while Peter proceeded to cough so hard it sounded like he was going to lose a lung.

No, you are not okay! )

Home was nice. It was perfect, actually. Peter hadn't seen the place in far too long and now that he was back he decided he was never leaving again ever.

Peter heard commotion outside his cell, but he didn't bother to look up. Someone was outside, which meant he wasn't alone. When they came inside, it wouldn't be nice. His relief at not being the last person alive on the planet was always short lived when it was followed by yet more torment.
