Pierre wandered downstairs happily to meet the new guest. He loved meeting new people, and now of all times it was a welcome distraction. He stepped into her doorway and found her decorating her room, which apparently required the wearing of very small shorts.
"Hummanah," he said as he caught sight of her lovely legs, then coughed to hide the nonsensical sound. "I mean, hello Evey!"
Evey turned around and squealed with glee. "Pierre! My new favourite boy!" She ran and hugged him despite never having met him before. "You are lovely to my cousin, thank you!" And she gave him a big old kiss on the cheek.
Pierre hugged Evey back, grinning the whole time. She was so open and friendly! No doubt she'd be a wonderful person to have around.
"Well, I love Deirdre very much. She's wonderful to me, too!" he smiled. "I would be stuck living with Renee's parents and sister if it weren't for her, and that would be less than fun. I'm glad to be your favourite," he added, kissing her on the cheek as well. "But there are many more boys in London! I'm sure I will have competition soon enough."
Evanna giggled. "Nah, you win. I love this house! It's incredible! Desi says you have like...57 housemates or something. I can't wait to meet them all. I would assume that means it's never boring around here, yes?"
"No... never boring," Pierre responded, a little enigmatically. "Some of the housemates are much more sociable than others, though. I'm sure you'll meet Slink soon. She's lovely, and one of the most fun people I have ever met! There is another very pretty girl named Jude who is a model, but she doesn't talk much. You'll probably meet her eventually though. And when Renee gets out of hospital, she'll be living in Deirdre's room."
Pierre looked around the room, observing what Evey had done with it so far. There were a lot more candles and... pink things now. "I actually lived in this room until Ry moved out and I got his room," he smiled. "So you get to bask in greatness!" he added with a jovial wink.
"That I most certainly do! I love your accent. It's pure sexiness." Evanna said as she put another pink candle holder on the ledge that ran around the entire room. "So, a model, huh? Desi told me she modelled for a while. I could never do that, I'm too short."
"Merci," Pierre grinned. "Well, you never know. They can do amazing things with computers these days. Although personally, I think your legs are just perfect the way they are. As you say, pure sexiness."
"My LEGS! You get more favouite points!" She squealed as she pulled a stuffed cat out of her bag and placed it on the futon that had been pulled out and covered in sheets. Then she flopped onto the bed and patted the space next to her.
In a slightly more serious tone (though not overly so because ew) she asked quietly, "So...has Desi been okay lately?"
Pierre took a seat next to Evey, fighting off the urge to sigh heavily. The girl didn't need a big downer yet, and knowing how life tended to go south at the worst possible times in Regents Park lately, the longer he could put off such a downer, the better.
"Desi's coping," he said, automatically calling her 'Desi' already in Evey's presence. "Everything that has happened with Renee since... well, since Christmas really, has taken a big toll on her. But she's a strong girl, even if she doesn't know it," Pierre smiled, a contemplative look in his eyes. "And she has a lot of people who love her. Like you," he said, reaching out to lightly touch her hair. "It was really good of you to come here like this."
"I would have come sooner if I had realised. I only noticed her journal recently because Caitlin talked about it. And Caitlin mentioned that she wished she could be here more often and I realised, hey, I could be! I like the way you talk about her. I haven't really known her much these past few years, but we were the best of friends before she moved away. I'm sorry about Renee, by the way. The whole situation sounds so awful."
"It's been hard on everyone, in different ways. But Renee seems to be getting better, I think. They let her out for her birthday, and it all went really well." Well, except for the fact that Tasha was there. But what was he thinking? Renee deserved to be able to have her cousin around if she wanted to. It certainly wasn't his right to say no...
"Ooh yay! It seems so wrong for someone to be kept away from what makes them happy. Like that's a GOOD way to make someone better. Some people are complete asshats."
Pierre chuckled at Evey's use of the word asshats. "I know. They think they are doing the right thing of course. It really did look like Renee tried to... well, you know. But she didn't! And now she has to convince them that she is better from something that was never wrong with her. It's all very silly," he sighed. "But we're all still here, and that's the important thing. And now you're here too!" he smiled, giving her a hug.
Evey grinned and hugged Pierre back. He really was a lovely person! "I AM here! I haven't really been to London before. I got so lost finding a taxi. I'm such a tool. It's so big!"
"Deirdre and I will show you around!" Pierre grinned. "This area is pretty easy to learn. And there are a lot of cool places very close by. There is a skate park and a brilliant poetry bar called Dante's! That is where most of us hang out when we are not in school. And there are a lot of clubs that are only a half hour to forty-five minute walk. But there are always buses if you don't want to walk and mon dieu once I start talking I do not stop!" he laughed, leaning just a little closer to her. There was something wonderful about this girl. She was just so open and easy to talk to. He felt so at ease with her. He hoped she would be staying for quite a while...
"Don't worry, I like it when you talk! And I like to walk too, but I think I'll use the buses until I learn the area. Otherwise I'll be walking for quite a while! Probably in circles. OOH I could get a compass! A pretty one! I don't think it would help but I would look really smart if I pulled it out and pretended I knew how to use it!"
Pierre chuckled. "Well, I had my problems with the public transport system when I first arrived her... it took me something ridiculous like four buses and three trains just to get here from the chunnel." His cheeks reddened just slightly at the embarrassing story.
Evanna grinned. "You should come to Dublin, the transportation system is quite confusing there too. Don't worry, I could show you around!" She winked and touched his leg. "Or Desi could too! She moved away, but she would know the way around her home town. UNless she's gone funny in the head!" Evey winked again.
Deirdre leaned against the doorfram and laughed. "GONE funny in the head. I already was funny in the head to begin with. I see you two are bonding. Good to see, good to see." Deirdre looked around the room. "Oh, Evey, you had to bring your pink things, didn't you?"
Pierre unconsciously moved his hand to cover Evey's as she placed it on his leg. "Evey has been telling me all sorts of scandalous things about you!" he said with a wink. "I didn't know you were a belly dancer in Morocco!"
"Oh yes! My name was Bertha Mae. Or Big Bertha. I got lots of tips. Evey here was my tip collecter person girl. Did she tell you she's half monkey?"
"Yes," Pierre nodded seriously. "At first it posed quite a large problem for our relationship. But we decided that with compromise and communication, we could overcome the monkey obstacles. As long as she doesn't eat all the bananas!"
Evanna snorted and then laughed. "You guys are brilliant! And I do love bananas!" She said, with a wink.
"Well, Deirdre makes a fantastic banana cake," Pierre grinned. "I think we'll be able to make you feel at home... even your monkey half!"
Deirdre giggled. "I could make one for you now. At least you're not all monkey, like your brother."
"Yes, Duncan is a bit of a monkey, but he'll grow out of it. Are you really going to make a cake?" Deirdre nodded. "YAY! Want to watch her, Pierre! And say things like 'is it done yet? is it done yet'!?"
"Yes, that is one of my favourite things!" Pierre grinned. "It is equalled only by the eating of the cake itself!" He considered his words for a moment. "Well, and other forms of eating, but I think that would be inappropriate," he said with a wink.
"It's not inappropriate in MY book!" She said, gleefully, following Deirdre into the kitchen. Deirdre just giggled and set to work with her cakey tools.
"Hummanah," he said as he caught sight of her lovely legs, then coughed to hide the nonsensical sound. "I mean, hello Evey!"
