Deirdre was surrounded by people she loved. She had crawled into Renee's bed, despite the fact that the fit was slightly precarious. She was three people at the moment, and four people in a hospital bed was slightly ridiculous, even if Peter had ensured that Renee was set up in a comfortable room. Julian was by the side of the bed, reading a story book to Deirdre's twins. He liked interacting with them since he had missed this part of Aislinn's life. Mostly, Aislinn had missed it too.... Little Dylan was there, curled up on another chair, dozing off, and Quinn was watching over them all without saying a word. For once...
Deirdre smiled at Julian and she reached out to gently touch Renee's face. She so desperately hoped that whatever Allanah was doing, she would come back from it and so would Renee. Deirdre needed her. "I miss you," Deirdre whispered for the fifteenth time that night.
Julian paused in his reading and he looked up. "She knows. I mean...if she can..." Julian sighed. He didn't understand this demon crap and if Damon could have explained it, he was gone now. And it didn't seem like Deirdre could. "She knows how much we all love her."
Deirdre smiled and she was about to say something else when there was a strange feeling in her lower half. Like a cramp but...not. And then her legs were wet...
"Oh my god!" Julian jumped up and the story book he had had in his lap crashed to the floor. "Deirdre!"
Deirdre looked horrified. "Did I just piss the bed!?" she squeaked, hoping that no one would ever tell Renee this had happened.
Quinn was at her side in an instant and even Dylan looked up sleepily. "Deirdre...no, it's not...piss," Quinn looked relieved as well. "I think your water broke."
Deirdre blinked at him for a moment and then she shook her head. "Oh no. No, it didn't..." but even as she said it, there was another cramp-like feeling and this one was slightly stronger. "Oh SON OF A BITCHMONKEY!!"
"Didn't you...say you wanted the babies to-" Julian started.
"THAT WAS BEFORE I BROKE WATER ON MY EX-GIRLFRIEND'S BED!" Deirdre screamed and Julian looked like he might break water in his trousers right there in the wake of a pregnant demons' moodswingy wrath. He did not. "OH MY GOD I DON'T WANT TO GIVE BIRTH!" She grabbed hold of Quinn's hand. "You do it!"
"Sorry, Beautiful. It doesn't work that way." Quinn turned to Julian. "Can you go tell Katia, please? She'll need to be set up for labour." Julian dashed out of the room, looking pleased he had an excuse. "Deirdre," Quinn turned back to his red headed friend. "It's going to be alright."
"HOW DO YOU KNOW?!" Deirdre screamed. Inwardly, she thought that if this didn't wake Renee up, Allanah was surely her only hope...
"I just do," Quinn said, calm in the face of Deirdre's utter panic. "And when it's over you get your babies! You've been waiting so long and then they'll be here! Okay? Come on, put your arm over my shoulder and I'll help you up. Apparently walking is good while this is going on. I read that in a book somewhere."
"What book?" Deirdre said, giving him a dubious look.
"Uhm...The Big Book of Giving Birth."
"Oh my GOD, Quinn, you are the most feminine man with a penis I know," Deirdre laughed and then she grimaced. "Okay, I do not like these contractionguys. They are suckarse."
Quinn gave her a sympathetic look. "Just breathe through them."
"Did they say that in the book?" Deirdre growled, letting Quinn help her up.
"They also said things about visualising flowers opening up, but that I didn't want to think about," Quinn muttered and Deirdre continued to look amused that Quinn had read such a book.
When Katia entered, she was pushing a wheelchair. "Mazeltov, Deirdre!" Katia announced loudly. "Come on! Chairtime. Let's get those babies out of you."
"You should probably change Renee's bedsheets too," Deirdre looked back at her ex-girlfriend while she lowered herself carefully into the wheelchair with Quinn's help. "I spooed on her."
"That's...wonderful," Katia looked horrified. "I'll take care of it."
Katia wheeled Deirdre out of the room, followed by Quinn. Julian didn't return until much later and there he found Dylan, who had gone right back to sleep. He had been very tired...
