Devon poked her head into the living room where she caught Dietrich looking quite wistful. He wasn't even paying attention to the telly, which was just weird. "Dad?" She asked, and then she had to repeat it four times just to get his bloody attention.

"Muh?!" Dietrich managed to utter when he finally turned to face Devon.

"What'cha thinkin' about?" Devon asked, rounding the sofa so she was in front of him.

"Nothing!" Dietrich responded quickly and Devon raised her eyebrows. She knew it! They'd gone over to visit Johan and Werner again today, and yet again Liz and Dietrich had giggled and flirted in the kitchen and now he was all thinking about her wistfully!

"You've got the hots for Liz!"

"I do not!" Dietrich shrieked incredulously. But his cheeks coloured and his overly shocked look gave him quite away.

"You do so! You've got it BAD, Mister Man! You're in loooooooove! You can't stop thinking about her! I saw you when I walked in! All...awwwwwwwwww." And Devon gazed off into the distance like Dietrich had been doing.

"I was thinking about pizza!" Dietrich protested.

That gave Devon pause, because Dietrich DID like pizza. But then she put her hands on her hips. "Bullshit. Unless you were thinking about pizza and Liz."

Dietrich flushed again, but he said nothing.

"AH HAH! You were thinking about pizza, and having sex with my cousin, and eating pizza again! Dad, seriously! What is wrong with you?!"

"You're the one who said I needed a girlfriend!" Dietrich protested, looking utterly confused now.

"I didn't mean Liz! What is it with you and my family anyway?! Is it some sort of weird festish?! Because Peter and Johan are taken... And you wouldn't want Miles..."

"Devon!" Dietrich held up his hands. "Honestly...I was just...look nothing's happened. Nothing has to happen. I don't even know if she likes me back."

"She does. She was all 'hahaha' even when your jokes were lame." Devon plopped herself down onto the sofa and she aimed a glare at him. "This is weird!"

"If you don't want me to do anything about...my jokes were lame?"

"DAD!"

"I'm sorry! If you don't want me to see Liz, then I won't!" Dietrich liked Liz, but he loved Devon. And for some reason, that was more important. Maybe he was growing up!

"No." Devon said glumly. "Liz is all sad because her loser wife dumped her. You can bond over that. I want you to be happy." Devon took a deep breath and then she smiled. "You should ask her out."

"I don't want to upset you."

"You won't." Devon said firmly. "Really really. Please. Ask her out."

"Okay!" Devon jumped up quickly and he headed for the phone. Devon blinked at the speed with which he moved. "I'm ordering pizza too!"

Then Devon laughed, because Dietrich was purely Dietrich at heart, no matter what he was doing.
