Elizabeth, being the kind understanding sister she was, had seen how upset Peter was over Thomas's absence and she'd taken the girls and Emma on an outing so Peter could brood in peace. While it had been a good plan at first, Peter soon realised that he'd changed a lot in the past few months and he didn't want to brood in peace. Sitting at the breakfast nook sipping lemonade while the dog Petey stared at him, his large soulful eyes begging to be played with, was not all it was cracked up to be. Gone were the days when Peter could just sit in misery. Well maybe not gone, but today was not one of those days. Instead he wished he could surround himself with his family and they could dull the aching void that Thomas had left.

Instead, it was him and Petey. And then, Petey abandoned him too. Though he didn't go far. He started jumping up and down at the door. Peter raised his eyebrows and he stood just as a knock sounded. Peter went to answer the door and a huge grin took over his face at the sight of a slightly nervous looking Aly bearing flowers.

"I uhm...I brought you these. They're...for you!" She said, holding the white and yellow flowers out to him.

"Thank you! I've never had a beautiful woman bring me flowers before. Come in, Aly." He stepped aside so she could walk past him. Deirdre had brought him flowers in the hospital, but that situation had been very very different! "Where's Caleb?"

Aly made her way into the kitchen. "He's at my parent's house. They wanted to take him on a special grandparents day or something, I'm not really sure. He'll come home with 10 new toys and be stuffed full of candy, but he loves it. Where are your girls?"

"They're with Emma and Liz. And they will come home in a similar state, I am sure." Peter looked at the flowers. "I uhm...don't know what I should do so these don't die..."

Aly laughed and started to relax. "Do you have a vase?" Peter nodded and pointed to a cupboard where several were. She picked one, and she placed the flowers in it, complete with water and that weird plant food goo that always comes wrapped up in the paper. Then she placed the arrangement on the table and she threw the paper away. After she finished she leaned against the counter and smiled at Peter, shifting her feet once again.

"Uhm...can I get you anything?" Peter asked, nervously. He walked to a cupboard, opening it to see what there was. "I have tea or uhm...some weird...herbal thing. Mango tea and lemon tea and one with a weird old lady on it but I don't think it's old lady tea though they do seem to have a tea for everything but maybe you don't want tea, there's coffee! Or there's hot chocolate but...you're...you're not ten. Not that you're old! I'm old. Not OLD old...older...uhm..and there's-" Aly listened to his nervous rambling, her smile growing larger with every syllable. Finally, she crossed the kitchen and cut him off with a kiss. "Mmmphh." Peter said as his eyes grew wide with surprise. Then he melted into the kiss, sighing softly against her lips. When she pulled away, he grinned and said softly, "Well there's me too. But I'm not in the cupboard."

Aly laughed and she put her arms around him. "I'm very glad you are not in the cupboard, Peter. You're just so cute when you ramble and I couldn't resist." She kissed him on his nose.

"I could uhm...ramble more if...if you want..."

Aly grinned. "You don't have to." And she stood on her tiptoes and kissed him again, deeply, pulling him closer to her. When their lips parted, she stayed right up against him and grinned. "I missed you and I had to come see you."

"That is a good plan. Always come to see me." He ran a hand down her cheek. "Did your plan involve anything else? Like lunch or something!" He added hurriedly so she wouldn't take it the wrong way.

"My plan ended at the door." Aly said with a grin. "So anything else is spontaneous."

"Well once you said you'd dance with me." Peter grinned.

"The pole dance?"

"I didn't mean...no not the....well..no not the pole dance. I didn't mean that one." Peter swallowed. "How about we save that one for some other time and go for a much safer...other dance?"

Aly laughed. "Sure, come on!" She pulled him into his living room and she searched through his CDs until she found one that would work. She put it in and took his hands in hers. "I'm going to have to lead. Can you handle that?"

"My masculinity will remain in tact, I assure you." Peter said with a grin. Peter caught on pretty quickly and soon enough the dancing was second nature. "So did you have a good night the other night...when you were here?"

"I had a fantastic time, Peter. I adore your family. Thank you for letting David and I be a part of it. It's extraordinary."

"Of course. You and David are rather extraordinary yourselves." Peter winked.

"That's true. He hasn't shut up about motorcycles since seeing yours though! My boys are going to turn into bikers!"

"We'd look dashing in leather chaps!"

Aly laughed, and they danced until they couldn't dance anymore and they collapsed on the sofa. Peter put his arm around Aly and he pulled her close. She leaned against him, and then she turned her head so she could kiss his chin. "There's a work thing on Wednesday. It will be boring but I want to show you off. Can you come?"

"Of course I can." Peter said with a grin. "I would love to be shown off. And spend time with you."

"Great. I'm really glad I came over, Peter." She leaned her head down on his chest.

"I'm really glad you did too, Aly." He ran his hand up and down her arm softly and he kissed her head. "Thank you. I needed it. You made my day."
