Flynn was awakened by the delicious smell of food, and a rumbling tummy insisting that he partake of it. He had no idea what kind of food, as the smell was so amazing it was impossible to pin-point, but he didn't really care what kind. All he knew, is that he wanted that smell... He rose from Quinn's bed, though not without planting a kiss on the boy's forehead and then another one because Sleeping Quinn was the cutest thing ever, and then he pulled his pajama bottoms on and headed downstairs, topless.
Autumn was standing in the kitchen, cooking for what looked like thirty people. Flynn leaned in against the doorframe and he smiled at her. It was nice to see Autumn just being Autumn, though he wasn't entirely sure that it was good for her to be darting around like she was. Her injuries couldn't have been completely healed and it made Flynn wince to imagine them worsening again. "Everything alright?" He asked, his voice quiet so he didn't startle her.
Autumn was startled anyway, but when she caught sight of Flynn, the scream that hadn't managed to escape, died in her throat. She put her hand on her chest and took several deep breaths to remain calm. "Jesus, Flynn."
"Sorry. My question still stands though. And now, even more so because I did the scary thing."
Autumn chuckled and she walked over to kiss Flynn's cheek. "I'm alright. I won't lie and say I'm not sore, but if I keep lying in bed, I'll go insane. I'm not sick anymore, so I refuse to be still."
Flynn had to work very hard to keep the emotion from showing on his face. Autumn had been so harmed, and he couldn't stand the things that had been done to his friend. They were disgusting. But she was still Autumn, and he couldn't be more thankful for that. Jake could have taken her away from them for good, but he hadn't. "Do you want some help?"
Autumn shook her head, but there was a smile on her face as she did it. "Company?" She asked cutely, pushing out a chair for him with her foot. "Sit. Are you hungry?"
"Starved." Flynn admitted, claiming the proffered chair as his own. "Quinn and I were supposed to have dinner but we sort of...skipped it. In lieu of other things..." A cute little smile played across his features, and his eyes lit up as they did whenever the subject switched to Quinn.
Autumn raised her eyebrows and then she wiggled them in amusement. "I see. It's good to see you two still...being you two."
"Always. Is Timothy still here?"
Autumn pointed towards the ceiling with her spatula. "Asleep." She said with a smile. "I think he's sleeping off his worry. He brought me so many presents, my room is covered in them. I'm sorry I left hospital before you all got there, Flynn." Autumn looked guilty at that, but somehow, she knew she was forgiven before she even began her apology.
"That's okay." Flynn waved his hand around. "Really. I was worried about the crowd, and then you weren't there so I didn't have to worry anymore. I was glad to know you were here and safe. And so were Quinn and Victor. He's coming over later. For lunch, but he said for you to ring him if you don't want company."
"That's my Victor." Autumn smiled. "I don't mind the company. I just didn't want the group. And expectations. And balloons." Autumn turned to Flynn and she took a deep breath. "Thank you. Victor told me how you looked for me when I was missing. He said you hardly ever took a break. Which I'll punish you for later, but for now, I'm just grateful."
Flynn's face softened and he nearly stood up, but then he remembered she'd asked him to sit and that was how he was 'helping', so he glanced up at her with a questioning look on his face. "Am...I allowed to stand?"
Autumn's laugh was both heart-felt and freeing. No one was quite like Flynn. "Of course!"
Flynn stood and he moved over to give Autumn a careful hug. "I'll come for you any time." He said softly, kissing her blonde hair. "I love you, Autumn. I would never leave you to a bastard like Jake." Flynn pulled away and then he frowned at her. "I'm glad he's dead."
Autumn's eyes flicked to the floor, and for a moment she looked intensely distracted and disturbed. But then she looked back up at him, and her expression had completely changed. She looked resolved. "So am I." She said with a nod. "My life's mine again." And she didn't feel bad about the fact that she was rejoicing the death of another human being. Let him rot. "And I intend to enjoy it. Starting with serving you breakfast. Sit!"
Flynn was quick and eager to obey, and the sound of Autumn's laughter filled the room. Flynn was quite sure he hadn't been so pleased to hear a sound like that in a very long time.
