It was relatively early, and Werner figured that showing up on a University Campus at 9:30 on a Sunday morning and hoping anyone would be awake, was wishful thinking. Which is why he'd brought coffee... And when no one answered the sharp rap he gave on his son's door in Nutford House, he assumed he had been right, and his son was very much still sleeping away the effects of whatever partying he'd done the night before. Until he heard a voice behind him.

"Dad? Hey!"

Werner and Johan turned around to see Alastair walking towards them, coffee in hand. "Alastair! My god, you've grown a foot and a half!" Werner said, wrapping his java-laden arms around his son. "It's good to see you!"

"You too! Hey, Johan!" Alastair grinned at Johan and he raised his coffee in a salute, which Johan returned. "Dad, did you bring me coffee?"

"Er...I thought we were going to wake you..."

"Nah, I'm a early riser. No matter, I can drink 'em both." Alastair opened the door to his dorm and then he led the other men inside before relieving Werner of one of his coffees quite happily. He held both of them, alternating sipping from one and then the other. "Thanks. Why'd you decide to visit?" Alastair spent most of his summers with Werner in Vienna, but it was always a pleasant surprise when Werner came to see him. He usually did it without Johan though, so he knew this had to be more than just a visit.

"We came to see Johan's family." Werner explained, taking a seat on his son's desk chair.

"I thought your family blew, Mate?" Alastair asked, looking up at Johan.

"So did I!" Johan replied back with a grin. "But opinions are as ever-changing as the seasons. Sometimes. I have a cousin who is apparently wonderful. The things you miss when you don't get the family newsletters."

Alastair nearly choked on his latte. "Newsletters!!"

"I was being fantastical..." Johan explained with a wink. "They don't actually have newsletters, though they would probably be full of themselves enough to do just that. It would be a very frightening letterhead..." Johan winced just imagining it and he contented himself by drinking his mocha instead.

"Oh! Good then." Alastair laughed and he grinned up at his dad. "So will you be here for a while? The semester just started so I'm not as busy if you wanted to do things."

Werner nodded. "Absolutely. I'd love to."

"Does Mum know you're here?" He asked, trying to be nonchalant about the question while chugging one of his drinks. Chugging was pure nonchalance...when you were 20.

"Not yet, but I will tell her. You don't have to." Werner's relationship with his ex-wife was not a tempestuous one, but he didn't always like talking to her, despite that. She didn't like Johan. And she didn't like talking about him. But, in efforts to be polite, she always asked about him and then sat there in stony silence while Werner tried to say as little as possible, as quickly as possible. Women were impossible. Thank god he had Johan.

"Good. The house flooded when all this weird shit went down, so she's a bit aggro."

"Oh. Fantastic..." An annoyed Lena. Just what Werner needed. "Is she alright? I mean...for money..."

Johan raised his eyebrows at that question, but he said nothing. They barely had enough to keep their own places in repair, not to mention someone else's. But Lena was the mother of Werner's child and she had been married to himi for six years. It wasn't his place to bring up practicalities like heating bills. Alastair resolved the issue quicksmart anyway. "She's fine. She's already getting the carpet replaced. She's grumpy though, 'cause the workmen get there at seven and make lots of noise. Hey! I met this girl in my psychology class! She's from Vienna too! Her name is Johanna Schuster, and I...i really like her." Alastair's cheeks coloured a bit at that. "We went out last weekend, and it was really nice. You should meet her and talk in German or something."

Werner laughed. "That's wonderful, Son! I'd love to meet her."

"Me too. I am assuming I was involved in the invitation correctly, yes?" Johan asked with a smile.

"Come on, of course you were. And even if you weren't, I know you'd come along anyway just to spite me. And you'd sit one table away and lean over to listen to everything that was mentioned in conversation." Alastair grinned. Johan was quite a character and he was...certainly convincing...

"Ah! You are referring to my Tormenting of the Evil Conductor!" Johan winked at Werner then. They had also tormented said conductor by having Werner shit on his lawn while in wolf form. And when the man ran out of his perfectly manicured house, screaming, Johan had shrugged and said, 'he's just a dog, he can't help it!'. They were especially proud of that one, but it was one they, unfortunately, couldn't share with anyone else... "He deserved everything he got."

"I'm glad you found family you like, Johan." Alastair said, being completely genuine. "It's nice when you have that." And he gave his father a winning look, which caused Werner to ruffle his hair. "Augh no!! I take it back!!"

Werner laughed. "Can't take it back now!" This was nice. He had a feeling it was going to be a good visit.
