God, he didn't want to give Alice up. She wanted to cling to her and keep her but, oh Jesus, she was Tal's too and this was their baby and she was dead and Jinx, passed the tiny thing to Tal as gently as he could and when she was out of his arms he dropped back down on the plastic hospital seat and buried his face in his hands.
