"Hey," he said gently to Rachel, before using his free hand to tilt her face up a little. "I'm going to be okay." He leaned forward and kissed her gently on the lips, lingering a little. It made his stomach twist with excitement and he leaned back just a little, laughing. "Oh-! I just got butterflies in my stomach. God- God, that's nice to feel." He gazed at her for a moment before leaning in to kiss her again more deeply, forgetting Cai and Zoe were there at all, at least for a few seconds.
He ran his fingers down her cheek and smiled warmly at her. "I want to get better so we can be together, okay? I want to be with you. Really with you. And my asshole of an uncle shouldn't be able to take that away from us. I'm not going to let him win. Not that I won't have bad days. But today is a good day. I like today."
