Oh, Peter was here! Zoe turned to Cai and smiled. Sometimes in the past Zoe had been kind of irritated by surprise visits, whoever they were. She just wanted her house to herself, without having to deal with any of the So How Are You questions when she could be alone in her room.
But today was different. "Hi Peter!" she called from the entranceway. To Cai she warned, "Peter's psychic too, so probably best if you don't touch him just in case."
"Noted," said Cai, instead of another psychic really wow! like he wanted to say. His head still hurt a little, but he was used to background headaches, and he wasn't going to let it interfere.
She made her way into the living room, Cai beside her. "I have Cai with me," she said, to the gathering, pointing needlessly at Cai.
