Quinn was wearing a kilt. He was in hospital, yes. But Flynn had decided that he should be allowed to wear his own clothes, and a kilt hardly cut off any access at all. And it made Flynn giggle, which was something he sorely needed right now.

They hadn't been short of visitors. Not even for five minutes. It made Flynn realise, more and more, how lucky they were. Bad things were happening, and instead of people making them handle it all on their own, they weren't ever alone. Autumn had come by, and Renee too. Spectre and the band. Abby and Lavinia had brought little Mara. Erik had come. Even Peter, who was extraordinarily busy, had stopped by, with Thomas at his side.

And of course, Quinn's family. Who could be counted on to come for Quinn if he had a splinter. They'd arrived mid-morning and spent the next several hours lifting everyone's spirits, including Flynn's. Knowing he didn't have to leave Quinn alone while everyone and their sister went to his concert...that made him feel much better about having to go play said concert. Still, he had to be sure. "Are you sure you want me to go?" Flynn asked, as he lay there beside Quinn, stroking his face.

"Mal, if you ask me that again, I am pushing you out of bed!" Quinn said firmly, though the look on his face was fond.

"I wish you could come." Flynn frowned then, kissing Quinn's cheek.

"I know, Mal. I wish I could too. I'm just...It hurts, and I can't-"

"I understand." Flynn said softly, wishing to every available deity that Quinn would stop hurting soon.

"Could someone record it?" Eamon suggested. "From the side or something. Just for Quinn, not for public released. "Like...if I were to do it?"

Both Flynn and Quinn stared at Eamon for a moment. "You would do that?" Quinn asked.

"If I can get in without a ticket!" Eamon said with a wink.

"You can!" Flynn said happily. "I decided!!"

"You can have mine..." Quinn laughed. "Someone should. It's going to be amazing."

Flynn turned red then. "I'm glad you'll get to see it." He said softly, ducking his head.

"We'll want to see that too!" Bob spoke up, winking to Maree. "We're quite proud of you, Flynn. And we'd love to see what you do tonight. If that's alright with you."

Flynn hadn't been told by a parental unit that they were proud of him...ever. So hearing it from Bob was incredible and he beamed. "Of course!"

Their lovely moment was cut short, however, by a nurse entering the room. "We need to take you for some more tests, Mr Wakefield." She rolled a wheelchair close to the bed and Flynn helped him into it.

"I have to leave soon." Flynn said with a frown.

"Good luck, My gorgeous Mal." Quinn pulled Flynn down into a kiss and then he smiled as bravely as he could. "I'm going to be fine. You just play."

As the nurse wheeled him away, she asked, "Are you wearing a kilt?"

Flynn sat down on the bed, feeling rather dejected. He looked over at Quinn's family then, and he frowned. "I didn't know it was getting worse." He said, apologetically. "He never said anything really..."

Maree rose from her chair, and instantly, she wrapped her arms around Flynn. "You have taken the most wonderful care of our boy. Thank you so much, Flynn. There is nothing you have to apologise for. We are grateful for you. So grateful."

Flynn just smiled sadly against Maree's shoulder. He wished the situation was different. But god, it was good to be appreciated and loved. And to hear it said aloud.
