It wasn't often that Deirdre chose to hole herself up in the tourbus instead of hanging around with the band during the day. But Thomas and Spectre were off being lovebirds and Deirdre had an essay due in next week. And while getting up at 5 in the morning did leave one a lot of time to study, she figured now was probably a good chance to get ahead. She was lounging in the tiny little dining room surrounded by books and her laptop. Flynn had taken quite a while to locate her as she wasn't by the catering table or goofing off with Timothy or Joasia. The tourbus seemed like a longshot, but it paid off. "Hey..." He said softly, ducking inside and approaching her slowly. "Am I...interrupting?"
Deirdre looked up and she smiled, pushing a lock of wayward hair out of her face. "Of course not!" She pushed her laptop back a little on the table, scootched her bum a little and patted the seat next to her. "What's up?"
Flynn didn't sit down, instead he fluttered around nervously, looking like an oversized, terrified hummingbird. "Erm...I have to tell you something..."
Deirdre blinked. "Okay...hey, Flynn? Take a chill pill?"
Flynn squeaked a little and he ran his fingers through his hair. "Deirdre...look I...there's things about me that you don't know."
"There's things about me you don't know either." Deirdre said simply, watching him pace about. "Like...okay, once I totally stole a thing of lipgloss. I know. I'm a rebel."
Flynn couldn't help but laugh at that. Deirdre was good at setting him at ease, even if her methods were completely unorthodox. "Mine's...a little more serious than that." Flynn said with a sigh. "Like...once I blew up some cars."
"Oooh!" Deirdre said, her pale eyes widening. She liked explosions. "I mean oh?"
Flynn snorted and he calmed down considerably then. "Not so 'oooh' more...bad, getting arrested, but not getting charged 'oh'. And that was just the thing that they brought me in for. I did all sort of shite. Bashing in windows, stealin' cars. Keepin' guard as other people bashed in...other people." Flynn sighed. "I was a right bastard. I really was. I doled out what I though' was justice. But it was just...bullshite."
Deirdre stood then, taking gentle hold of Flynn's arms. "Sometime, maybe I'll tell you about the building I burned down. Not today though. But Flynn...if you're looking for someone who understands making mistakes...that'd be me. And it's a goddamn lie to say it doesn't affect who you are today. It does. But all I can see is that it's made you in to a wonderful person. I mean...I've only known you for a few months, but I love spending time with you. You're funny, and sweet. And smart. And charming too. And Quinn has needed lovin' for a long time!" Deirdre added for good measure.
"Heh...he's..not the only one there..." Flynn flushed and then he looked up at Deirdre because she was taller than he was by a little bit. "Thank you. For...not hating me. God...I never realised people could be so...nice."
"Yeah...that happens when you come from a bad place. You view gets sort of skewed. I get that too. Crap father. It took me a long time to trust...anyone really. And again with the...rape bullshit. But I had good friends to help me out of that."
"And I do now too..." Flynn said with a firm nod. "And it's wonderful. There's more though, Deirdre. I wasn't just...I didn't do it on my own. I was part of a group. Involved with the PIRA. It was before the IRA disarmed. That happened in 2005. But even now...they're around. I thought they wouldn't come after me. They wouldn't be strong enough, but someone did anyway. She still believes in the cause. And just 'cause the army's disbanded, it doesn't mean that individuals can't do damage. They do. Me brother was involved in it. I left but...there was a woman in London last night. She found me. She wants me back. She wants to use me to rally people to her cause and I told her no. But Deirdre...she knows you're Irish..."
"Well fuck her! Does she know I've been living in London since I was 11?!"
"Probably not..." Flynn said with a nervous bite of his lip. "Her name is Fable. And she..she wants you too. She might come at you. I had to warn you about that..."
"Thank you, Flynn." Deirdre said, kissing Flynn's forehead and leaving him looking rather shocked. "I'm not afraid. But thank you for telling me. I'll look out for her. And...I know it might not look like it, but I'm pretty good at taking care of myself."
"That's what everyone keeps tellin' me." Flynn said with a laugh.
"Well they're right!" Deirdre glanced back at the booth she'd been sitting in. "So now can you sit down, Flitty?"
Flynn laughed. "I guess so. Yes. Thank you. For listening."
"Any time. And you know...I can keep listening if there's more?"
Flynn nodded. "Yeah...there's more."
Deirdre sat and she patted the seat next to her again like she had when he'd entered. "Well then, fellow countryman. Park your arse and unleash it upon Deirdre. For she has sexy ears of listening!"
"And an odd mouth of speaking." Flynn added as he sat down.
"Hee! Yeah!" Deirdre really agreed.
Deirdre looked up and she smiled, pushing a lock of wayward hair out of her face. "Of course not!" She pushed her laptop back a little on the table, scootched her bum a little and patted the seat next to her. "What's up?"
