Peter had spent the morning with Aly's family and it had been wonderful. A celebration of life, as opposed to a mourning for death. Peter couldn't express how much he loved Aly's family. They took him in and made him feel a part of something. His own family didn't do that. What was left of them. Mostly they ignored him and threatened to take his sister's house away. In German.
Peter had given wheelchair rides to all of his children, all of anyone else's children, and then to Svetlana. She had deposited herself on Peter's lap after Anna's turn and informed him of this. As Svetlana was currently carrying Peter's child, he figured he might as well. Even if she did hurt his legs. He was far too intelligent to say anything about it.
Once they finally returned him, the kids ran downstairs to swim with Gavin and Aly went upstairs to put baby Thomas to bed. Big Thomas headed straight in to the kitchen, because he was Thomas. When Aly returned to the livingroom, Peter was wheeling around in circles looking bored.
"What are you doing?" Aly asked, eyebrows raised.
"Well I couldn't follow you! I'm a cripple!"
"You are not." Aly moved past him, intent on heading in to the kitchen as well.
"Where are you going, Missy?!" Peter said, and when Aly turned around, Peter had a slightly mischievous look in his eyes.
"The...kitchen?" God she loved those eyes.
Peter shook his head. "No you're not!"
"But I...uh...what?"
Peter grinned wickedly and then he began to chase her with the wheelchair. Aly squealed and backed away from him. "Come on, Aly! Don't you want a ride on Big Daddy's chair?!" Peter said with a giggle.
Aly laughed and she escaped in to the dining room, but Peter was right behind her. Eventually he trapped her in a corner...with a little assistance from Aly, and he edged up to her until she fell into his lap. "You're deranged." She informed him and then she kissed him on the nose.
"You know, you're not the first one to say it. I just like having excuses to have you in my lap."
"You're all bony." Aly said, readjusting herself because she was terrified she'd break his legs.
"It's not my fault." Peter wrapped his arms around her and he buried his face in her hair. "Mmmm wife."
Aly leaned down and she kissed him deeply before pulling back. It was weird. Not kissing him, exactly, that was wonderful. But it was weird, considering the circumstances. Peter was being so nice to her and she didn't deserve it. "Peter...I.."
Peter looked up at her and Aly stopped talking. Peter realised that probably he should start. "I'm feeling good today. I'm remembering what's important. You are important Aly. There will be some days where I will momentarily forget and maybe the hurt will creep in. But not today."
Aly kissed his forehead. Peter was always so honest. She loved it. It made things so much easier when she knew what to expect. "Okay. Not today." And she kissed him again until poor little Peter was exhausted. Then she leaned back and grinned. "Aly wants grapes!"
"Big Daddy will give you a ride in to the kitchen!" Peter said happily.
"Only if you never call yourself Big Daddy again!"
"I think I can guarentee that." Peter said, heading for the door. "What about Head Cheese?"
"No."
"Big Cahuna?"
"No."
"....Chief Magoo?"
"No."
"Aww. Homedog?"
Aly laughed and the absurdity of Peter saying 'Homedog' as Thomas intercepted them. "There's someone at the door you Ninnies."
"Homedog'll get it!" Peter said, heading for the door.
