It had taken a lot of pulling of strings, and a very late night, but Spectre held the very first completed print of The Pilgrim's Prog. Not just a master disc in an unlabeled case, but a picture disk complete with album artwork, liner notes, and the final mix. Production of the CDs was only just getting underway, so it was a very special item that he held in his hand, only to relinquish to Peter's coffin. For Spectre, it seemed important to fill this day with music. He sang Dream Theater's Take Away my Pain earlier, the song John Petrucci had written after the death of his father. He repeated the penultimate words to Peter now, as he laid the album down with him that contained so much of their shared philosophy. "His final scene, the actor bows, and all those years are gone somehow. The crowd applauds, the curtain falls." He touched Peter's hand, and closed his eyes. "Goodbye, my friend." Tears squeezed their way past his eyelids, and he turned away, feeling the other angelic presence near him as he did so. He looked over to Nancy and Zoe, and wiped at his tears before giving them something of a shy smile.
