Peter Kemp did not understand cricket. In fact, he kind of thought it was rather dull and he didn't understand why people got so worked up about it. Still, it was the only thing he could get reception for on the telly in the guest house and it was that or go face his incredibly angry sister. And as she was having a particularly bad week anyway, Peter decided he'd just watch the cricket and deal. He was nursing a beer, which seemed to help. Cricket made more sense when it was slightly fuzzy.

Katherine made her way up to Peter's guesthouse and let herself in without knocking. She found Peter on the sofa in his lounge, giving the telly a quizzical look. The crowd was cheering, but the hitter was throwing the bat on the ground. He didn't get it. "Hello?" She asked.

"Oh, thank god." Peter switched the telly off and rose to his feet. "You saved me from the cricket!" He put his bottle on the coffeetable and crossed the room to kiss her.

Katherine wrinkled her nose and pulled away. "You taste like beer." She said, a small smile playing across her lips.

"One of my many talents." Peter winked and slid his hands around her waist. "You came to visit me!" Since their 'date' at the library, she hadn't come to see him here. She usually called him up and had him meet her at her apartment before they took off on some other sort of embarassingly sexy and slightly illegal adventure.

"I missed you." Katherine said, catching his lips in a deeper kiss before moving to the sofa. "I brought you something."

"You got me something?" Peter followed her, thinking quickly. Bollocks! I don't have anything for her and if she gives me something and I don't give her something back she'll think I don't love her! He searched around for something to give her, but all he had was beer.

"It's just a little thing. Come sit!"

Peter sat, sratching his head nervously. "I'm sat. I mean-"

Katherine interrupted him, which he was not upset about since he'd been about to babble about grammar. "Okay, so you know how you told me you wanted me to teach you how to have fun?"

Oh okay, it was a fun thing. Peter relaxed. "Yes. And so far...we've certainly done that. Am I a good student?" He asked eagerly.

Katherine chuckled. "Absolutely, My Peter." Peter's heart swelled as she called him hers. "Now I'm going to show you something the church would never let you do."

Peter grinned and turned quite red. "Uh...Katherine? You've already shown me lots of things the clergy happens to frown upon..."

"Shhh, Monkey Boy." Katherine pulled a small package out of her purse and she held it in her hand. "Do you what what I have here?"

Peter raised his eyebrows. "Uh...a baggy?" He said, glancing at the plastic bag she had in her hand. If that was his surprise, she so wasn't getting any beer.

"No! It's inside the bag." She dumped out it's contents into the palm of her hand. Two flat gray tablets rested there and she looked back up at him, quite pleased with herself.

"Katherine..." Peter's heartrate increased and it felt awfully hot in the room all of a sudden. "Those aren't...please tell me those are vitamins."

Katherine shook her head. "Better. It's LSD, Peter. Acid."

Peter blinked and then he blinked again. And then he cleared his throat and jumped up off the sofa. "So you want a beer or something?"

"Peter, sit down!" Katherine shook her head at him, but she remained amused. "Look, it won't hurt you. Humans only use 10% of their brains. This just sort of...unlocks the rest for a little while. It's fun, Peter. I thought you wanted to learn how to have fun."

"But-but I like my 10%!" Peter practically whined. He remained standing, and he eyed those pills like they were going to bite him. "What if...what if I die?"

"Peter, it's impossible to OD on these. Especially if you only take one. And this isn't addictive, I promise."

"I didn't even know you did things like that." Peter crossed his arms across his chest, and he looked slightly pouty. "I don't...I don't like things like that."

"Why, because they come from the devil?" Katherine asked, her tone slightly mocking.

"No! Because...because they're dangerous. And illegal!"

"Having sex in the library was illegal, but you did that. And you liked it." Katherine stood and she slowly moved towards him. "You liked it because it was dangerous. It's fun, Peter. And I want to do it with you. I want to try something."

Peter shook his head, but his resolve was wavering. He had said he would do anything, and if he didn't do it, would she leave him? Would it prove he wasn't good enough for her afterall? She was young and she deserved to live the life she wanted and why should he hold her back just because he was a gigantic goody-two-shoes with frizzy hair. "Wh-what do you want to try?"

Katherine smiled. "I want to have sex with you after we take these." The truth was, she'd already done this with Phil. She wanted to try it with Peter too.

Peter fidgeted. "I don't know..."

Katherine crossed to him and she pressed herself against him. That always worked in the past. "Just try it. You'll like it, Peter. I'll be with you the entire time, nothing will go wrong."

"I...I guess." Peter licked his lips and nodded weakly. "Okay. I'll try it."

Katherine rewarded him with a kiss and then she handed him his pill. He swallowed it quickly, wanting to get it over with. As soon as it was down, he rather wished he could bring it back up again because now it was inside him and whatever was going to happen was coming soon and there was no turning back. No control. This wasn't just alcohol. He wasn't going to have control over his mind at all, and that thought terrified him. Katherine let him have some time for the drugs to take effect and then she grabbed hold of him and pulled him back into his bedroom. He followed her, trying hard not to concentrate on why the floor was so springy.

Katherine smiled at him. "Peter your hair...your hair is so....wow." She reached out to touch it and then she sat him down on the bed.

Peter just felt sick, so he nodded and then marvelled at the colours nodding produced. He'd never seen nodding colours before. Nodding wasn't supposed to make colors. He didn't like this. He wished it would stop. And Katherine's hands were on him and it was making the most exquisite noise and the room spun and he saw shapes he'd never dreamed of and when he lay back against the mattress, it was never still always moving. Katherine laughed and it looked like triangles. She removed her shirt, but the bed wouldn't stop moving. Peter grabbed his head, just to see if that would help. "I don't like it! I don't like it, Katherine, I don't understand what's happening to me. Everything's all..." Peter inhaled blue and he tried to hold his head still. "Make it stop!"

Katherine leaned over him. "Peter, it's just...just let it happen." She giggled because he looked like Bozo with his hair all out like that. "Don't fight it."

Peter didn't like that advice. Don't fight it. Just accept it. Just accept the hostile takeover of his perception. Just accept the bullshit consequences of actions that hadn't been his. They'd made him do that at the abbey not six months ago. Made him accept the blame for his best friend's death, but it wasn't his fault. It was why he'd left. Peter shook his head. "NO! No I won't do it!" He yelled. The room seemed to bend in half and he was helpless to stop it. Helpless to stop it as he watched. Like Thomas. The girl they'd tried to help had thrown Peter across a room. He'd hit his head. It felt like this. And he'd watched as she killed Thomas. Not his fault.

"Peter, calm down!" Katherine yelled at him, probably too loudly, but she couldn't hear herself over the music the bed was making.

Peter curled up into a ball gripping his head, trying to make it stop. He could hear the sound of Thomas's neck breaking resounding in his ears. "I DIDN'T DO IT!" He screamed as the room saw fit to consume him. It wouldn't stop spinning. The room revolved around and around and Peter, always one to succumb to motion-sickness, vomited all over the musical bed.

Katherine thought it was very pretty.
