Fearless wasn't a word that people generally used to describe Peter Kemp. Brave, yes. Fearless? Certainly not. Truth be told, Peter was afraid of a lot of things. He was scared of spiders, he had a fear of heights and he wasn't entirely fond of the dark. Not that he was vocal about that last one. And Peter Kemp was terrified of motorcycles. So when he had one delivered on Monday afternoon, Liz was so entirely confused, that she accused Peter of being a body snatcher.
"I am not a body snatcher, Liz! It's me!" Peter said, removing his new black helmet that he'd been trying on and he grinned.
"So you...Peter Kemp bought a motorcycle?"
"Uh huh! Look how shiny!" He said happily.
"I see how shiny. Peter, do you even know how to ride that thing?"
"Whatever, I'll learn. I can take lessons. I think you're missing the point, which is...Shiny!"
"No I got the point. I also get that you've lost your mind. What if you crash? You'll be liquidated!"
"You could say the same thing about a car, Liz!" Peter shot back. "Besides, you know I'll be fine."
"So that's why you bought this now when before if I even mentioned the word 'motor' you'd scream 'DON'T SAY CYCLE!'?"
"Har har. But yes."
"And it doesn't have anything to do with the fact that you're turning 36 in two days?" Liz asked, raising her eyebrows.
Peter turned red. "No!"
"Uh huh. Now come inside Michael Michael, Motorcycle, I want you to invite this girlfriend of yours over for dinner on your birthday."
Peter patted the seat of his new toy and he walked it into the garage. Then he followed Elizabeth into the house, all the while grinning about his shiny new motorcycle. As if out of nowhere, a scream filled his head and he glanced up. He shook his head. Liz hadn't noticed. He shrugged it off and went to pick up the phone to ring Aly.
