Lee left soon after he'd read Deirdre post, pausing only to find his other shoe. He spent the entire bus ride worrying about the two little girls he and Evey were playing with just the night before. Gods, the world was a screwed up place sometimes.

He banged on Deirdre door and called out. "Deirdre, you there? It's Lee."

Deirdre's head snapped up from where it had been resting next to Peter's. He was still asleep. And now Lee was here. She sighed and kissed Peter's forehead again and then her wings disappeared as she slid off the bed and slunk down the stairs to the front door. She pulled it open. "Hey, Lee. Thanks for coming."

"Hey Deirdre, are you okay?" He asked, putting a hand on her shoulder. "You sounded panicy."

"I'm...no. No, I'm not okay." She let Lee through the door and then she sat on the stairs heavily. Evey had taken Caitlin out for a 'day on the town' so Deirdre could be alone with Peter. Or at least not have Caitlin sniffing around him. "I've never seen Peter like this and I don't know what to do for him and it's my fault!"

"Hey now," Lee said, sitting down a step below Deirdre. "It is not your fault."

"But it IS because I asked him to come and he should have stayed in South Africa but he was worried about me and now THIS happened. Oh god...Lee, I don't know what to DO."

"Okay," Lee said, reaching for her hand. "First you need to calm down. From the sound of things, Peter is going to be as worried as you are, so you need to be his rock. Do you think you can do that for him?"

"Of course I can, that's why I'm freaking out to YOU." Deirdre smiled shakily. "Oh god...those little girls..."

Lee grinned at the first comment, but his expression fell back into his serious face at the second. "Do you mind telling me what happened?"

"I don't...know! Just...I found Peter on my doorstep at 5 this morning. He was...so lost and out of it. It's someone from his past. This...crazy woman. She killed his best friend and now she's got his kids." She couldn't explain the demon part, but a human that had killed sounded bad enough. "Peter had obviously chased them. He didn't have shoes on and he was freezing...I gave him sleeping pills. He's going to be angry with me."

Oh Gods, this was bad. "Have you notified the police?" Lee asked.

Oh, Jesus Fucking Christ. She didn't want to have to explain THIS again. "Everything's been done that can be done. Peter's girlfriend is flying here though now I think I shouldn't have asked her to. She has other things to worry about and--augh this is all fucked up."

Lee wriggled up onto the stair Deirdre was on and put his arms around her. "Yeah, it is. And hey, don't worry too much about Peter being mad at you when he wakes up. You were scared, he has to understand that."

"He was scared too. He looked like a zombie. He probably hadn't slept. He needed to. He was going to go running all over London and get himself kil-" Well no. He wouldn't have gotten himself killed. Right? "Uh...hurt."

What, he can't be killed? Lee noticed Deirdre's correction and filed it away in the back of his mind. Probably nothing, but he had journals full of probably-nothings and some of them made for very interesting reading. "You're right, it's probably best that he's here, and had at least some rest."

"I should make him something to eat. I know he won't eat it because he's like that. But I should make it anyway." She reached over and gave Lee a tight hug. "Thank you for coming. It means a lot. Do you want me to make you something at the same time?"
