Deirdre was standing in front of her mirror, completely topless with her hands covering her breasts, wings out and spread wide. And that was how Flynn found her when he entered her room, completely unaware. "WHOA!?" he yelled, and he fell back, slamming against the door. Deirdre spun around, but instead of rushing to cover up, she grinned at him and uncovered her breasts. "Do my boobs look bigger? THey feel bigger. Do you want to feel them to make sure?"

Lavinia stood outside Joseph Littleton's hospital room at Robert MacGavillary Memorial Hospital. He was silently reading the newspaper, and he looked so peaceful she hated to disrupt him. She was heavy with the news she had to convey, but she would let no one else tell him. No one else was going to tell her beloved son, that his wife of twenty-three years and his 13-month-old daughter had been killed before anyone had even known they were missing. While Joe had sat in his hospital bed battling infection, his world had been shattered. In all her seventy-five years, she had never had to do anything this hard before. And not a one of her years had been easy.

Taking a deep breath, Lavinia walked into Joe's room.

The very depth of Grief )
The Littletons were mourning and though Damon was a part of them, he didn't feel he should take part in their grief. He didn't want to distract Julian from his own pain, because his boyfriend was concentrating on Damon's. And Damon knew the boy he loved well enough to know it would happen if Damon was with him. Damon had loved Jordan like a mother, and he had come to love the little brown-haired Jaida like a sister. There was pain enough for him too, and he was not immune.
