Abby entered Thomas' room with a mixture of trepidation and curiosity. Spectre and Mary had explained to her what Thomas had told them last night, and Abby didn't know exactly what to expect. Did her older brother really believe that this reality...his safety and chance for recovery was all a hallucination caused by his mind to make his suffering easier when that continued suffering at the hands of Amaris was the actual delusion? It was all so...dreadfully fascinating, actually, and if it happened to be anyone Abby wasn't related to, she would be thrilled to be on the case. But this was her Thomas. Mostly, she just hoped Spectre and Mary had understood wrong.

Thomas tried to stay awake there, beside his sister, Abby, but her presence was so soothing and that and his blissfully full stomach pulled heavily at his eyelids. His mind swam through layers of fog, though it was a relaxing and peaceful feeling and he let himself drift there, feeling safe and warm here. He was all too aware that danger lay just on the other side of consciousness, but his painless drifting felt too good to deny himself. It was too hard to stay awake.
