It was early on Monday afternoon that Stephie found herself thinking about Tasha. She wasn't entirely sure what she was thinking, but the girl was in her thoughts all the same.
Obsessing over Sophie had chased most of the anger at Tasha and Renee out of her head and- well, Stephie knew what being locked up felt like. Not that mental institutions were anything like juvie, she was sure, but still...
She'd been thinking about Sophie and wanting her friendship back despite everything.
Might as well try out that forgiveness thing on someone else first, right? Before she lost two friends completely.
She took the bus to the hospital with her iPod turned right up, knowing that if she stopped to think about what Tasha's reaction might be, she'd back out. Following the nurse up the corridor, footsteps echoing against the walls, she thought what on earth am I doing?
Trying to be better, maybe. Trying to do the right thing instead of just letting go. It was rather slippery footing, but, she thought, if things go pear-shaped I can run faster than Tasha can.
She took a deep breath and pushed open the door.

When Tasha looked up from her place strapped to the bed, she had expected to find Renee or possibly Alexei coming to see her. Well... she had hoped, anyway. More often than not, it was just a doctor or a nurse coming to test her or drug her. She never would have guessed, though, that the person entering her room would be Slink.
"Mmm... Slink...?" First confusion, then fear, then finally perhaps nothing more than recognition settled onto Tasha's paler-than-usual features. Was this really Slink, or just another apparition come to torment her...?

"Yeah, s'me." Stephie said, tucking her hands under her arms. God, it was horrible seeing Tasha strapped to that bed- in this situation, anyway. "What's up?"
empress_tasha
"No..." Tasha shook her head, her eyes shut tightly. "No, nothing up, can't have it, can't have anything up." She opened her eyes again, focusing directly on Slink, unwavering. As if she couldn't bear to look away. "There can't be anything on the ceiling," she whispered desperately. "Can't have that."
slinkster_ghoul
"Alright then..." Stephie said, and took a couple of cautious steps closed to the side of Tasha's bed. "How're you feeling?"
empress_tasha
Tasha's eyes drifted away from Slink then, her gaze travelling slowly down her own body. "Do you know who I am?" she asked quietly.

Stephie found the will to sit down- commit to staying. "I have some idea."

"Who is it today?" Tasha asked, her voice picking up a vaguely sing-song quality as she turned languidly back to Slink. "Renee? Or Natasha?" She widened her eyes a little, a disconcerting expression. On another face, perhaps it would have appeared as child-like innocence... but on Tasha's once-beautiful, but slightly the worse for wear features, it was simply... disturbing.
slinkster_ghoul
Stephie swallowed. She hadn't expected Tasha to be like this- but the only other mental patient she'd even known had been Renee and that had been a mistake (and it was an ironic world where mental disorders showed up after you've been discharged from the mental hospital). "You're Tasha," Stephie said, trying to position herself so Tasha would look into her eyes. "Renee's cousin, from Russia, Queen of kink."
empress_tasha
A bittersweet smile formed on Tasha's lips for a moment, and tears welled in her eyes. "Slink... what's happening to me... I feel like I'm losing myself... these things can't be real, terrible things, dead, the dead coming for me... Pierre, Scarlett, Kait, all of them dead and coming for me, over and over again, and they won't stop, and Avery won't stop killing himself and spilling his blood all over me, all over me, all over me..."
slinkster_ghoul
"They're not real." Stephie shook her head, frowning in concern. "Anything comes to get you I'll kick its arse 'fore it can blink." Okay, the girl may have driven Scarlett away and made everything all awkward, but she didn't deserve this.
empress_tasha
This time, Tasha grinned up at Slink. "You're good at arse-kicking..." The smile remained on her face as she just stared at Slink for a moment. "You're pretty, too," she said more quietly.
slinkster_ghoul
"That's more like it." Stephie smiled, punching her lightly in the shoulder. "You're not bad looking yourself, Your Unholiness."
empress_tasha
Tasha actually giggled at the 'Your Unholiness'. "I am unholy. No holes." She cocked her head for a moment, as this concept seemed to worry her. "There were holes, you know. In my breast, and in my leg, big bloody holes that bled and bled..."
slinkster_ghoul
Stephie shook her head, then made a show of examining Tasha's body. "No holes now." she assured her.
empress_tasha
"No holes because I'm unholey..." Tasha murmured. She smiled, then looked back up at Slink. "Did you see Ry? Ry has holes..."
slinkster_ghoul
"I'm fairly sure he doesn't..." Stephie said, playing with the fingers on Tasha's hand.
empress_tasha
"Holes in his back, stabbed in the back. Corpsey wanted to play, but she got scared away before she could get him wet," Tasha continued. Her voice was light, as if relating a story to a child. "Wet wet blood, trickle, drip, down his back. Pretty." She grinned at Slink. "You'd look pretty in red."
slinkster_ghoul
"Thank you..." said Stephie, trying to ignore the rest of Tasha's words and failing. How could this still be Tasha? How could such a strong girl be transformed into this... bedbound, isolation wing mental patient- how was it even possible? Stephie frowned and brushed Tasha's fringe back off her face.
Tasha moved her head, trying to press against Slink's hand, desperate for the other girl's touch. "You're so sweet to me," she sighed. "I've missed you."
"Oh Tash." Stephie said, her frown softening into sympathy. "I'm not sweet to you, I tried to break your face."
"You're not the only one, babe," Tasha replied. "Besides, I've been a bad girl. Terrible. Need somebody to put me in my place."
"Well, yeah." Stephie had to agree. "But this isn't your place, so you better hurry and get better." She was finding it surprisingly easy to forget Tasha's manupulation of her friends- it wasn't easy to be mad at her in this state.
"It doesn't matter," Tasha told her, then her voice dropped to a whisper, as if revealing some sort of confidence. "They follow me everywhere."
"So tell them to shove off." Stephie nodded firmly.
"Things are so much simpler when you're around," Tasha smiled. She looked at Slink with adoring eyes for a moment. "I think... I kinda love it."
Stephie froze in surprise and bit the inside of her cheeks, digesting Tasha's words. The girl wasn't in her right mind; she was heavily sedated and scared of things no one else could see and, well, tied down in a mental institution. But the way she'd looked up at her hadn't seemed at all confused.
With one hand on her own stomach and the other flung outward, Stephie took a dramatic bow while still sitting on the bed. "You're quite welcome." she chirped.
Tasha continued to smile at Slink, but the expression had become wistful. "I miss your lips," she sighed.
Stephie smiled a half smile at Tasha, then bent down and kissed her nose, assessing how she reacted to the proximity.
Tasha tilted her head back, trying to brush Slink's lips with hers, but she couldn't reach. She made a small sound of defeat, her eyes pleading for more.
Stephie moved her head down a fraction and took Tasha's lips in her, very softly.
Tasha closed her eyes and melted into the kiss, giving Slink a satisfied moan as their lips pressed together. God, she'd missed this... it was amazing what an impact just a simple kiss could have... she could feel her heart lightening, butterflies in her stomach... she was almost ready to swoon. And it was just a kiss! But after so long strapped to a bed, even a kiss just felt so good...
Stephie moved her hand up and stroked Tasha's cheek with her thumb, cupping the side of her face with the rest of her hand. "Feeling better there, Tash?" she murmured, lips brushing Tasha's.
"Mmmm, yes," Tasha sighed. "Your lips are amazing." Her voice dropped low and sultry with yearning. "I just want them all over me, like before..."
Stephie chuckled. "You're even already tied to a bed."
Tasha lowered her lashes coyly, a small blush appearing in her cheeks. "You're starting something you might have difficulty finishing, dear. Not that I'm going to complain."
"I'll bet you're not." Stephie gave her a wry smile. "But I'm also willing to bet there's a nurse waiting not far away for any sign of, erm, trouble."
"You could always steal a uniform," Tasha suggested, returning the smile.
Stephie laughed. "And then I'd be up for malpractise- or something. Unless I said you were receiving a new, experimental sex therapy."
"Mmm," Tasha grinned. "Innovative. I like Nurse Slink."
Obsessing over Sophie had chased most of the anger at Tasha and Renee out of her head and- well, Stephie knew what being locked up felt like. Not that mental institutions were anything like juvie, she was sure, but still...
