"Yes daddy? You wished to see me?"

Kait stood in the doorway of his office. She knew better than to walk into this one room in the whole house without asking. He looked up at her, and gave her a weary smile accompanied by a quick hand movement that she was to walk in. Smiling in return, she walked in until she was right up level with the desk.

"I regret business has taken me so much since Christmas, my dove," he said to her tenderly. "We haven't had nearly enough time to talk to one another, have we?"

Kait's father would no doubt disapprove. Though this afternoon's planned adventure was by no means naughty - at least not naughty in the sense that Renee usually enjoyed - she didn't think that witchcraft would be on his good list. Still, it was necessary; Renee was utterly convinced that this was the only way to save Deirdre. But she was going to need supplies, more than the meagre collection she had garnered thus far.
Dark lipstick and eyeliner, pentagram ring and necklace, and black velvet skirt and top that showed off her pierced belly. She wondered if Scarlett would be coming along today. It was strange... since the break-up with Deirdre, Scarlett's company had gradually seemed to become not only palatable, but even... desirable.
"Kait?" she called. "Are you ready, mon amour?" The pet name slipped out automatically, as it had been over the past few days. Why wouldn't it, really? With Deirdre gone and Pierre not on the best of terms with her, Kait was the person Renee loved the most in this world, no questions asked.
