The time for curling up at Spectre's side would come. Deirdre was alone now for the first time since her beloved Kait's death, and she felt it prudent that she take the opportunity to do a few things she hadn't felt she could do in Flynn's presence.

"Baby..." Deirdre sitting on Flynn's bed, piled in among Flynn's blankets so they created a safe mountain of downy protection around her. She was leaning against his head board and she let her head fall lightly back so she was facing upwards. She didn't know if where Kait was now was 'up' specifically, but it felt right. It was right, wasn't it?

"Baby, I'm not mad at you." Deirdre's lips started to quiver and her eyes shone brightly with forming tears. Her demonic and tempestuous nature was such that her reactions were never certain. Now that she was pregnant, being around her was like playing Russian Roulette with a a bullet in every chamber and another gun for backup, just in case. This time, however, it was different. She hadn't lashed out at anyone. She hadn't blamed anyone for Kait's death. She hadn't screamed that Renee had no right to miss Kait considering the way she had treated her before her death. All of her ire and wrath died before it reached her heart. It had become like stone.

"I'm going to be okay..." Deirdre sniffed as her tears finally spilled, twin trails of moisture making their way down her pale face. Words were hard to find, and harder to form in her thick and stubborn throat. Deirdre closed her eyes, staring for a moment at the x-ray looking image of the light above her which had burned into her retinas. It slowly faded and Deirdre felt a stab of pain as she realised her love was now less substantial than the memory of light the eye beheld once closed. "The babies...it's a boy and a girl, Kaitie." Deirdre put her hands on her belly and she smiled, watery and wavering. "What we wanted. A boy and a girl."

Deirdre forced a shaky breath into her lungs, because it wouldn't do to let herself suffocate here in her leaning tower of duck fluff. Deirdre threw the blankets away and Flynn's cat Errol, who had been nesting among them, jumped up and fixed her with an incensed glare. There was only one more thing Deirdre had to say. After that, it was about learning how to live without Kait. Chipping away at her hardened heart. Deirdre knew it was possible. She was going to have to learn how to live without most of her friends at some point or another, though she would never understand why life felt she needed to start with the hardest ones first. Melissa and Kait. Why?

Work your way down. Nothing will ever hurt as much as this.

"I love you, Baby. I'll always love you."

Deirdre rose from the bed and she reached out for the diamente door handle Quinn had purchased Flynn for this birthday. It made her smile sadly. It was going to be a long time before someone who loved her like Quinn loved Flynn, would buy her a silly present like that. Eventually she would have her time in the sun again. until then, she had her friends to brighten her day.

Deirdre turned the handle and she padded down the hallway to Spectre's room. Somewhere inside, her lovely soulmate, bandmate, best friend, and all-around other half, was waiting for her.
