Charlie skipped to her mother's house after classes with more of a skip and hurry to her step than she usually used to move herself around. Smells of a deliciously home cooked dinner -mum style- reached her nose as she opened the front door. Charlie put her bag down in the hallway, and bounced into the kitchen.

Charlie's mother smiled as her only daughter sailed into the kitchen. "Here, try this," Raelene said, lifting the spoon out of the sauce and blowing on it, before offering it to Charlie.

"Mm," Charlie said, in approval. She caught a drop that had fallen off the spoon and onto the bench, and stuck that in her mouth too. "Did you hear that Logan and Joasia are having a kid?"

Raelene looked surprised, which answered Charlie's question. "I didn't. Did your dad tell you?"

Charlie pulled a face. "Yeah. Yesterday. She's already three months along." But they both knew what Charlie's father was like. "But I was wondering, can I call them? Congratulate them and stuff? Please?"

Raelene laughed at her daughter's convincing tactics. "Go on then, but don't be too long."

With a nod, Charlie rushed to the cordless phone, looked up the number she had for Logan and Asia's house in her little phone book and wandered to her room.

When a male voice answered the phone, Charlie grinned. "Hey Uncle Logan. Hear I'm going to be getting a cousin soon!"

"Beth, what a nice surprise." Charlie could hear Logan's answering grin in his voice. Her real name was Elizabeth, but only family called her that. "A baby boy cousin called Jacob. Did Ainsley tell you?"

"Mmhm!" Charlie said. No way was she badmouthing her father to Logan. "So, how's Joasia doing? And can I come visit?"

"Of course," Logan answered. "You know you're welcome any time. Joasia is doing wonderfully. She's very excited and keeping tabs on each step of the pregnancy, and exactly what's expected. I'm left running around making sure all of her food cravings are seen to."

Charlie just barely refrained from an 'aww' over the phone. Logan and Joasia were so cute together. "And I'm sure you're doing a really good job," Charlie said.

"Yes. So how are you doing in your studies at the moment? End of the school year is coming up soon. Are you nervous?" Charlie could just hear him relaxing, and imagined him loosening his tie and sitting back in his chair. Her Uncle Logan had to be the only art person in the world who still wore a tie.

"Studies are good. It's not really tense yet, but give it time," she said, adding to the banter between them.

"How about you visit us as soon as you are finished with your school year. You can stay here with us for a week or so. I'm sure Joasia would love the support. And by then, the baby might be kicking-"

"Yes!" Charlie said, a sudden outburst. "I mean, yes, of course yes. That'd be amazing! You really wouldn't mind me staying with you guys for a week?"

"Well, I'll ask Joasia, but I can't see that she would have any problem with it," Logan answered. "Would you like to talk to her?"

Mindful of the time she'd already been on her mum's phone, Charlie said yes, but only quickly. London trip for a week was the best news she'd heard in weeks!
