“No,” she croaked, shaking her head, her laughing crying stupid head. “No don’t say that, don’t feel that. I don’t – I don’t want you to be sorry.” She tried to do one of the calming breaths one of her doctors once talked about, but it just made her next laughing sob come out in a hiccup.
