Being himself around his mother when Flynn was by his side was one thing. Being himself around his mother when he was all on his lonesome, was something entirely different. But Quinn wanted to be able to do it, to take that step and feel comfortable around her without the crutch of his boyfriend hanging around. Becuase poor Flynn shouldn't have to make him feel better about absolutely everything even if he did by default. It wasn't his job to be Quinn's keeper. So Quinn told Flynn that he would be okay with his mother if he was left alone with her, and he sent Flynn home.
