"Guess what?" Flynn said the moment Quinn answered the phone. He hadn't even bothered with hello.

Quinn smiled at the familiarity and very welcome tone of his husband's voice. He also knew that when Flynn said 'guess what' he did expect someone to guess. If Quinn replied with 'what?' Flynn would be confused. That was the way things went when you had a six year gap from human interaction in your life.

"You went to Hello Kittyland?" Quinn said, because he thought that was yesterday.

"YEAH! Flynn said loudly, his excited voice making the phone go fuzzy for a moment. Quinn chuckled thankfully, even if he had to hold the phone away from his ear for a moment. "And I got the best presents," he said excitedly. “But I’m not going to tell you what those are, even if you guess.”

Quinn laughed and he moved to sit down on his bed. “Good to know, you know how I like presents!” Quinn paused to breathe out his relief. “It’s really nice to hear your voice, Bub.”

“What’s wrong?” Flynn asked, instead of wasting time on asking if Quinn was okay. He already knew he wasn’t.

“It’s just…okay, I can’t say, but Adrina and Eamon are going through something and they’re okay, but it’s a bit depressing and I wish I could make it better, but I can’t.” Quinn took a deep breath and he let it out slowly. “And I wish you were here because I fucking miss you, okay?”

Flynn chuckled at that, smiling into the empty room, seeking to light it up just a little. “Well that I can understand,” he said fondly. “I miss you too. So Eamon and Adrina are okay? Should I call them?”

“Probably not,” Quinn sighed. “I don’t think it would help. Talking to me helps. Being grounded is good.”

“I can do that, Babe,” Flynn said firmly. In the past he may not have been the best person to help someone emotionally, but he was in a place where he could now, especially for Quinn.

“I know you can,” Quinn said warmly. “So…tell me about Hello Kittyland. Did Deirdre make you dress up?”

“Tell no one,” Flynn said with a laugh. “But there is photographic evidence.”

“Oh, brilliant!” Quinn squealed, and then he sat back as Flynn regaled him with the tale of Hello Kittyland and the big head Deirdre made him try on. It had gotten stuck. The story was priceless, but the ‘company’ was even better
