Flynn was leaning with his back up against the wall of the house, lounging about on the roof. He was smoking, inhaling deeply to try to get himself to relax. It was easier out here, below the sky he'd become so familiar with when he didn't have a roof to sit on or to shelter him from the whims of Mother Nature. That was something he had never wished he didn't have to see again. The sky. There was something utterly serene and calming about it. And as he watched the clouds travel across it, and smoke swirled away from his lips, his spirit felt more serene.

Quinn stepped out onto the balcony and he climbed up onto the roof to join his lover. "Hey." He said with a grin. "Whatcha doin'?"

"Relaxing." Flynn pulled the cigarette out of his mouth and he grinned back before leaning on Quinn's shoulder and becoming even more relaxed. "And hey yourself. Did you get bored of the silence?"

"One can only study so long." Quinn replied.

"Especially when they're studying the ceiling?"

"Exactly." Quinn looped his arm over Flynn's shoulders, pulling the boy closer. "What about you? Are you bored of the silence?"

Flynn sat up straight and he gave Quinn a strange look. "What's that?"

"Are you bored of being alone?"

Flynn blinked and then he nodded. "Yes. But I'm not alone right now..."

"Yes you are." Quinn replied, looking as if it caused him great harm to admit. "You are, Flynn. And I don't like to see it."

Flynn heaved a sigh and ever so slowly, he started to move his hands closer to Quinn. All he wanted to do was cling. To make sure this moment between them didn't end. Because even though Flynn wasn't aware he was dreaming, he was far too cognizant of the fact that this moment wouldn't last. "Then don't leave me alone..."

"You know I can't do that, Bub." Quinn smoothed his fingers through Flynn's hair. "I can't stay with you. You have to find another half."

"I don't have another half!" Flynn sobbed out, hiding his face in Quinn's chest.

"Maybe not. Maybe there isn't someone who will fit completely. But even shattered vases can be put back together eventually if one takes the time to mend them. And gaps can be filled. You might have to work harder, but you can make something fit."

Flynn groaned, but he said nothing for a long time. Because he knew Quinn was right. Finally, when his throat felt sure enough to speak with, Flynn cleared it and he changed the subject. "Dare me." He said softly. He wasn't talking about finding another half anymore. And he knew Quinn would know.

"Yellow and blue." Quinn said with a silly look on his face. And then he leaned down to catch Flynn's lips in a kiss.

When Flynn woke up, the first thing he did was look over to see Quinn there, so alike his old self when he was sleeping. The dream had filled Flynn with a deep warmth and he smiled into the darkness. He knew enough to know that the dream hadn't been anything supernatural. Quinn hadn't been visiting him. Quinn couldn't and Flynn was all too aware of that. It had been Flynn's own subconscious, shaping out what Quinn's response to the situation would be. But Flynn knew Quinn. And he knew he could trust his subconscious' judgment. Quinn wouldn't hate him for moving on. He'd want him to.

With that knowledge lifting his spirits incredibly, Flynn made his way out of his bedroom and out the front door. He needed to make a late nigh run to pick up some yellow and blue jelly beans. Because that was what Quinn had dared him to do.
