WEDDING! (People) Rating: Weddingy!
Everything was done, everything was ready save for the last minute dressing. Oh and Peter. He was busy hyperventilating in the corner as he tried not to think about the next few hours. He'd been the celebrant at weddings before. Countless weddings. He'd never been a groom. He never thought he'd ever be a groom. Marriage he could do. A wedding terrified him and he couldn't explain why.
Thomas bounced into the dressing room with a gigantic grin on his face and he gave all the men manly punches in their arms and pats on their backs as he made his way to Peter. He embraced his best friend, crushing the orange blossom in his lapel. "Oh fuck! I smooshed your tiny posy."
Peter gave Thomas an odd look. "You're in a good mood. You had sex with my cousin, didn't you?"
"Yes!" Thomas said as he dropped trou and hunted around for his dress slacks.
"Well...good for you then." Peter said, pulling the poor flower out of his lapel.
"You didn't need the flower anyway, it makes you look like an undertaker."
"Oh THANK you!" Peter said, but he was laughing. Deirdre burst into the dressing room wearing her white dress, her hair and makeup perfect. "Deirdre!" Peter yelped and then he went to stand in front of Thomas to block him from her view.
Deirdre giggled. "It's not like I haven't seen his underwear before, Peter." She turned to David who was, thankfully, dressed. "Your sister wants you, David." She turned to Peter who looked worried. "She's fine, and she's not like...going to leave you at the altar or anything."
"Oh...that's reassuring, thank you, Deirdre..."
Deirdre just smiled and turned back to David. "Something about seeing people...something...I really shouldn't be a messenger..." She watched as David headed off to see Aly and then she turned back to Thomas and Peter. Thomas had finally found his slacks and he pulled them on. He flashed a grin to Deirdre. "You're in a good mood." Not that Thomas was usually scowly, but his grin was even bigger if that were possible.
"He had sex with Kat. And crushed my tiny posy." Peter said flatly.
"At the same ti...no nevermind. Don't tell me." Deirdre walked over and she slid her arms around Peter. "How are you?"
"I didn't vomit yet, so I think we're good." He said, holding her close.
"And he hasn't wept like a tiny baby either, but there's still time." Thomas clapped Peter on the back and then he hugged both of them and Deirdre giggled.
"I'm in a monk sandwich!!" Only later did it occur to her that she'd been in the middle of two men and hadn't freaked out in the least.
Peter chuckled and he kissed Deirdre's hair before letting her go. "How's Aly?"
"She looks like this." Deirdre plastered a manic grin on her face.
"Good. That's good."
"I'd better go. But I love you." She stood on her tiptoes and kissed his cheek. "And it will be fine and we'll party all night long." She winked and kissed Thomas, Robert and Pierre too before heading out again.
Thomas put on his shirt and then he pulled Peter over to the corner of the room. "Okay...I'm going to try this gushing thing. And you know I'm not good at it so just...let me work it out." Peter did his best not to laugh at how adorable Thomas was. "I've known you a hell of a long time and you're the best friend I could ever ask for. And when I think back on the person you were when I met you...you've come a long way, Peter Kemp. And I respect you and I love you and I'm so happy for you. And I'm proud to stand beside you." Thomas took a breath. "Was that okay?"
Peter grinned at him and he hugged him tightly. "That was very good, Thomas. Thank you. Very much."
Aly was standing in the hallway outside her dressing room. She was chatting animatedly with two people she hadn't expected to see here today. Daniel and Sarah Scott. William's parents. They'd come to see their daughter-in-law get married again and Aly felt so blessed they'd come. Now she just needed David to see them. There was only a half hour left, afterall.

Then Aly caught sight of him, and they turned. Daniel and Sarah Scott, William's parents. David felt his heart miss a beat, and he had to swallow the intense emotion that rose with seeing them. They'd been here the last time Aly had been married, of course they had, it was their son... And now here they were, all smiles as they talked to Aly on their second wedding day. David let their smiles inform his own expression as he stepped forward to embrace William's parents. "It's so good to see you," he told them.

"They just came by to offer congratulations before the ceremony and I knew you'd want to see them." Aly said, adjusting the black veil on her head.
"There's no way we wouldn't come, Dear." Sarah said to Aly and then she hugged her again. "And we want to meet this Peter afterwards to make sure he'll take good care of you!"

Sarah smiled and took David and Aly's hands. "We'd better go sit down and leave you two be, but we'd love to see more of you!"
Aly smiled and nodded. "Absolutely!" She watched as they headed off and then she turned to David. "I can't believe they came, David. This is perfect. You look dashing, look at you! How's Peter?"

Kali stuck her head into the hall and she addressed Aly. "We have a slight stockings related problem he-...hello Dr. Sexy!" Kali said, grinning at David. "You should be always wearing that suit, mmmhmm!" Aly just laughed.

Jactina caught sight of David and her eyes widened. "What are you doing in here, naughty boy?!"
no subject
"You naughty boy! You little fiend! Always chasing after the ladies like you'd never seen a skirt before! I ought to spank you silly, you little whippersnapper!" She harangued him in Spanish.
"Argh! No! I don't snap whips! Stop hitting me with that shoe, it's pointy!" David cried.

Kali's eyes widened. She was used to David being all professory and strong. And now he was being shouted at in a language she didn't know and cowering from a woman that was really very small. Brilliant!
Finally Aly pulled her fingers out of her mouth and interceded. "Mama! Don't give him dents, it'll mess up the wedding!"

"I got it!" Christina called from her seat as the stockings began to cooperate.
"Oh my, is that the time!" David exclaimed, and ducked towards the doorway. "I'll see you all at the ceremony!" He peaked round the door, blew Hope a kiss, winked to Christina and made his way back to the men's dressing room. "Peter!" he called as he entered. "Do you know your soon-to-be-mother-in-law is insane?"

Thomas chuckled until Peter moved. "Augh, stop moving. You damn hair keeps getting in the way. Honestly Peter, I think your mother had an affair with Bozo."
"Hey!" Peter protested, trying to smack Thomas who was behind him and really not succeeding.
Robert watched it all from his bench with a funny smile on his face. Thomas and Peter were priceless. "They've been doin' this the entire time you were gone, David. Pierre and I can only watch."
no subject
"Is that what we call the shoepocalypse?" Pierre grinned.
"That's right," David nodded soberly. "And Mama's so crazy, they let her be three of the Four Horsemen."
"Which one isn't she?" Pierre asked.
"Famine!" David responded. "Obviously!"
no subject
"Sorry! David's so witty!" He winked at David and then he spun Peter around. "There you go, Pete. All fixed. And you look wonderful. Doesn't he look wonderful!? I spiffed him all up. Not that there's anything else I can do for the hair, but I had to go with what I had to work with." Thomas said soberly.
"Aly likes my hair, you cretin!" Peter said and he turned to button up Thomas's jacket. "Oh god, what time is it?!"
"Ten to seven. Calm down, Peter. You're going to give yourself a histerectomy." Thomas said, unaware he was using the wrong word.
Robert almost fell off his bench laughing. "I think you mean coronary there, Thomas."
"Why, what did I say?" Thomas asked, genuinely confused.
"You said histerectomy. Which is much less a heart attack and much more the removal of lady parts." Peter explained.
"Oh. Well I never was a doctor. Though you're no nervous you might cry and then turn into a girl and then get a one of those anyway."
Peter raised his eyebrows. "Yes...quite. David, it's your turn to reassure me, Thomas is fired!"

"I'm good at funny, David is good at calming! We all have our things!" Thomas said with a grin. He went over and put a hand on Pierre's shoulder and then there was a knock at the door.
"Oh good god something's happening!" Peter said quickly.
"You! You have to calm down!" Thomas said, waggling a finger at Peter and heading for the door. Liz was standing there and he grinned at her. "See Peter, it's just your gorgeous sister!" Thomas kissed her on the cheek. "What can we do for you?"
"It's almost time and I've been sent to get you men into shape. I'll help you line up and then you walk in like you did yesterday and then I'll walk Peter in. The girls will join you after that but they're already in position because Aly's mum whipped them into shape. With actual whips!" She winked at David.

Pierre gave a nod. "Brilliant! Wedding time!" He gave Peter a pat on the back as he passed, and followed David out of the room.
no subject
"Oh, My Peter. I'm so proud of you." She said, blink back the happy tears in her eyes.
Peter smiled at his older sister. "You see, the Spanish people know how to do it right, having the mother walk the groom down the aisle is a great idea. You're keeping me calm. And no crying, Liz. It's not like I'm your little baby leaving home or something."
Liz chuckled and she kissed his forehead. "Well you kind of are. You're my baby brother getting married!" She hugged him tightly again and then she linked her arm in his once more. "Are you ready?"
Peter let out a breath. "Okay. Yes. Ready. Grrr!" They gathered at the back of the Globe's Undertheatre and then he listened as the piano started, meaning Kait was cueing Caleb the ringbearer to start the procession. Pierre followed down the aisle, walking arm in arm with Hope. It was Robert and Emma next, followed by David and Kali and finally Thomas and Christina as the best man and the maid of honour. Then Peter and Liz walked towards the front and Peter caught sight of so many people he loved watching him. He gave Slink, Tasha and Kat a cute little wave and then Liz released him...slightly hesitantly...at the front of the church. He went to stand beside Thomas who clapped him on the back.
The music changed and everyone stood. Peter grinned as Lydia and Anna walked down the aisle spreading white rose petals and orange blossoms along it and then everyone stood as Aly entered, arm in arm with her mother and her father. Peter's jaw dropped open and Thomas reached around and closed it for him. God she was gorgeous. A minute later, Peter remembered to breathe and he watched Aly walk towards him and the rest of the world seemed to fade away.

Renee gave a little bounce and held onto Tasha's hand as she watched. There was so much pretty... Aly and Peter, Kait on the piano, David smiling away, Thomas keeping an eye on Peter and making sure he didn't do silly things like drooling... it was all perfect. She felt as though her smile physically couldn't get in larger as she basked in the happiness of the event.

Father Bianco launced into the ceremony, but Peter knew the words by heart having said them dozens of times. He just let the experience of standing in front of all his friends and family with this extraordinary woman beside him wash over him. And soon they'd be married.
Aly felt the same way, though she was listening to the words. They meant so much to her. She never thought she'd find someone she loved as much as she'd loved William. She never thought she'd have this again, nor had she ever had a wedding she knew would go on. William had already been diagnosed when they'd been married. Everyone had known it was short term. This one would last. She squeezed Peter's hand as he turned to her and said 'I do'. Those two words melted her heart. When it was her turn, she wasn't surprised that she felt tears form in the corner of her eyes. Her voice broke as she said "I do" and a tear fell down her cheek. Peter smiled and he reached up, moving his hand under her black veil to wipe the tear from her cheek which caused everyone watching to go 'awwwwww' loudly.
Deirdre's pure voice rang out as she sang "Never Saw Blue Like That" accompanied by Kait's piano. Then Father Bianco turned to them both and he smiled at them fondly. "Do you have the rings?"
Caleb held them up proudly. "I have one!" He called. Father Bianco smiled and he took the ring from Caleb and the other one from Thomas. Aly handed her bouquet to Christina to mind. She took Peter's ring and she slid it onto his finger with a smile. Peter did the same with hers.
"I uhm...have something else." Peter said, pulling a velvet bag out of his pocket. He'd read up on Spanish weddings and he knew it was customary for the groom to give the bride 13 coins to symbolise his promise to support her. Aly grinned and she took the bag and looked inside.
"How..how did you know?"
Peter blushed. "I used the interwebs." Aly chuckled and she looked at the 13 coins inside. "Thank you, Peter!"
Father Bianco grinned and said "I now prounounce you man and wife. You may kiss."
Peter didn't need to be told twice. He pushed Aly's veil back and he pulled her into a deep deep kiss which seemed never ending until Thomas cleared his throat and Peter finally pulled away.

Renee put her hand to her heart and made a sound of pure adoration as everything unfolded. Aly had shed tears, and Deirdre's voice was so beautiful, everything was just so perfect that Renee couldn't help letting tears of happiness fall herself.
Tasha smiled serenely as the man who had taken her in married the woman he loved. Peter deserved this happiness. This was truly a great day.
Pierre gave a little cheer and started clapping, hoping that his applause would be followed.

Peter just grinned and kissed Aly again. They could all just deal with it. He was a husband! He had a wife! This time is was Lydia who indicated she'd had enough. "Daddy, ew!"
Thomas snickered and then the wedding procession turned and filed out and back down the aisle as Kait started playing again. Peter was positively glowing as he finally linked arms with Aly and he follwed the rest of them out. Once they reached the hall behind the undertheatre, Aly practically jumped into his arms. Peter obliged by scooping her up and kissing her again. "Ooh!" Aly giggled. "Okay, look, David! I'm flying!" She pointed to the doors. "To the dinner!"

"Being a groomsman is hungry work!" Pierre piped up. "It is just like a bucks' night in that way! I am all for the dinner!"
Renee giggled at Pierre and shook her head. Ever the boy, even after such a beautiful ceremony, he was already thinking with his stomach. And who could blame him? They had a fantastic meal ahead of them, and a long night of partying. Things were only going to get better from here.
