Move on (Deirdre, Eiley, Gabriel)
Deirdre was sitting on the floor of the living room with her twins darting around the room while she watched them. They were nearly two now, and their personalities were absolutely showing through. Eiley was more reserved. She had a head of shockingly-red hair like her mother, and she loved to be read to. She would gaze at the pictures and babble to them while you read. Gabriel was Deirdre's little brown-haired exhibitionist. He hated wearing clothes, and he didn't seem to be afraid of anything. The moment he learned a word, he would yell it loudly and repeatedly until it no longer sounded like a real word. Deirdre loved the both of them so much, even if they reminded her that her life had not turned out like she had tried to so carefully shape it.
As Deirdre sat and watched them, a small smile worked itself onto her face. "Gabriel, show mumma your pose!" Deirdre cooed at him and Gabriel put one hand on his hip and he grinned at her. "You're a model like Aunt Jude, Gabriel!" Deirdre said, clapping while Gabriel joined her. Eiley sat in her corner, silently building a tower so she could wave her arms around and knock it down before bulding another one.
She was okay as long as she had them, but Deirdre wanted more. As she thought about it, Deirdre realised she had been thinking a lot about that meeting she had had in the park a while back. A girl from her high school had run into her, and Deirdre had thought she was beautiful. "Should mummy look up her old school friend for gay kisses?" Deirdre asked Gabriel.
"SPOO!" Gabriel yelled, pointing at the cat in the corner, who's name in no way resembled 'spoo'.
"I have decided I am taking that as a yes," Deirdre grinned at her son.
"DAY!" Gabriel yelled back at her, clapping again.
"Day indeed."
