Oh, Deirdre (Deirdre, twins, Giles)

Deirdre was surrounded by place settings and tulle and random flowers. Victoria Lane looked like it had been the scene of an exploded wedding planner's office. Decorations were draped everywhere and there were dresses and tuxedos hung over doorways. It was a scene of mass confusion and finally, Deirdre had had enough.

Gabriel and Eiley were playing in their playpen when Deirdre turned to her nearly one-year-old twins. "Hey guys. Want to see something cool?"

"Bah!" Gabriel shouted, causing Eiley to jump a little in fright.

"I'll take that as a yes," she grinned at them. Of course getting them ready for a trip was a job in and of itself, but a less confusing job than a wedding. And when they were ready, she bundled the twins and their accessories into her purple taxi and she drove away from Victoria Lane.

It was at a house in Notting Hill that she parked in front of. It was a beautiful white house that she had looked at with Giles recently. The family who was selling it had moved out the previous day and Deirdre's payment had gone though. It was all hers.

Deirdre unpacked the twins and she placed them in their stroller so she could take them inside. The key turned in the door and she let herself in to the house she would share with her husband.

Husband. It was a strange word. A word she hadn't thought would be applicable to her just a few short years ago. But here she was. She had thought about staying in Victoria Lane and raising Gabriel and Eiley with Katie and Matthew right there and Marie around most of the time, but she had decided in the end, to move out. The idea of living in her own house with her children and her husband was just so grown up. The nanny would live with them too of course, which would get Juliette out of RMMH. It was something Deirdre had never done before, despite owning various properties. She had never just had a place to herself and a family that was hers. Not since the lonely days she had spent with Liam and she didn't count those. Her father had never been family. Not in the way that mattered.

Closing the door behind her, Deirdre moved into the living room and she let the twins free on the floor. She set down a blanket and a few toys and made sure it was safe, but the room was empty and she was closeby. "This is your new home, guys," she cooed to them. Eiley grinned widely at her and Gabriel set off, crawling towards the closed door to see if he could get through it.

He could not.

As she rested there on the floor of her new house with her kids, her phone rang and Deirdre dug it out of her pocket. "Hello?"

"Deirdre? It's Giles. Where are you?"

Deirdre grinned at the sound of her fiance's voice. "I'm at our house," she said happily. "Come meet me!"

It took him twenty minutes, but when he arrived, she felt his arms wrap around her waist as he settled down beside her. She leaned back into him. "Mmmm, I'm glad you're here," she purred at him.

"Me too," he kissed her temple. "The place looks great."

"All ready for us! And in two weeks it'll be ours! I'm so excited, Giles!" This was what she needed to be reminded of. Why she was dealing with the headache of dresses and flowers and menus. Weddings in general.

"Me too," Giles said, and Deirdre completely missed the note of hesitation in his voice. "It'll be great."

It would be. Deirdre had decided.
