"Danny we're here, Danny listen, Danny you're safe, it's me, it's me, it's me," Rachel was speaking as Danny panicked, as Zoe threw Ross away, as Cai stood shaking guard. Her voice a low, constant stream she hoped he would hear, hoped he could hear.

"No dad," Cai said, his hands outstretched to keep Ross away. Immediately he wished he hadn't said dad but it was too late to take it back. Danny was howling and Cai nodded his head toward his older brother. "You should leave. You caused that, that's on you. We're protecting him." He also wished he could summon the anger he'd felt for his father the night he left the voicemail, but it wasn't there any more.
