You what (Flynn, Deirdre)
Deirdre had returned from Heidelberg and Flynn wanted to welcome his best friend home. He arrived at Victoria Lane and let himself in. He found her in the kitchen, feeding cereal to Gabriel. "Hi!" Flynn bounded in and he kissed Gabriel and then Deirdre on their heads. "Where's the redheaded bub?" he asked, taking a seat beside Deirdre.
"Flynny! Eiley is upstairs sleeping so you can love on her later. Gabriel Liam, you will eat this cereal or I will ground you!" Gabriel simply giggled at Deirdre and pushed the spoon away from his mouth. "Tricky bugger."
"I'll do it!" Flynn took the spoon from her and he grinned at Gabriel. "Here it comes, wheeeee!" and when he put the spoon to Gabriel's lips, Gabriel opened up.
"Traitor!" Deirdre laughed, but she looked pleased to have a chance to get some food herself. "So, how has London fared without me?"
"Mostly fine," Flynn said with a grin. "And how has Deirdre fared without London? How was Germany?"
Deirdre turned and she grinned at Flynn. "Flynn...the most amazing thing happened!"
"Did you drink a bunch of beer and see the light of God?" Flynn joked, feeding Gabriel more of the cereal. And then he turned to Deirdre just in time to see her slip a ring onto her finger. She must have taken it off, lest it get baby goo on it. Flynn's jaw dropped and he lifted his eyes to meet hers. "Wh..."
"Giles asked me to marry him!" Deirdre said brightly. "We're going to get married and move into a house and...Flynn, it's perfect. My babies are going to have a family."
Flynn could do nothing but stare at Deirdre. She had lost her beloved girlfriend nearly a year ago, and Flynn understood having a new relationship. He even understood wanting that relationship to be with the father of her children, as useless as he was. But...getting engaged to Giles!? Flynn knew she had had a near-death experience, but this seemed like a radical move. They hadn't even been dating that long. Flynn himself had only just gotten married to Quinn and they had been together for so many years, he had lost count. Minus some in the middle... "I...wow..."
"You could be happy for me," Deirdre said pointedly, though she didn't sound upset. "I know you don't like him all that much, but you do like me!" Deirdre beamed and Flynn hated that she looked so happy because he didn't honestly see this ending any way but badly. He just did not trust Giles.
"I...I am happy for you. I'm sorry, Deirdre. I'm very glad you're happy." He stood them, putting the spoon down on the table, ad he took Deirdre into his arms. "Just..be careful..."
Deirdre hugged him until he said those last words and then she pushed him gently away and rolled her eyes. "Augh, I am careful. It's going to be awesome." She leaned down to lift Gabriel out of his little chair and she held him close. "All done, mister man? You get to move into a nice house with daddy? You like that, right?"
Gabriel shouted a non-committal, "BA!" and Deirdre shot Flynn a look that said 'see', though Flynn rather didn't.
"I have to give him a bath," Deirdre said with a grin. "And then he's taking a nap too so don't go anywhere because I have the best pictures, oh my god I wore lederhosen!" and Deirdre darted away, leaving Flynn in the kitchen, feeling utterly crushed.
