The Universe does have a sense of humour, from a certain point of view... (Thomas, Peter)

By the time Peter had returned home from Carlisle, he was absolutely wrecked. Identifying bodies was, quite possibly, his least favourite thing to do. And, unfortunately, it seemed to be something he ended up doing quite often. Life just wasn't funny that way.

He hadn't been able to sleep. Instead, Peter was kept awake by the thought that people needed him here, and they needed hi in Romania. He couldn't split himself in two, though he had often wished it were possible. All hell was going to break loose with poor Adrian, and Peter couldn't be here for it. But just because he couldn't split himself in two, it didn't mean there wasn't another way to solve the issue.

Peter had thought long and hard about it. And then he'd changed his mind 12 or 13 times before thinking long and hard about it again. But in the end, it had to be done. Peter needed Thomas here. Everyone needed Thomas here. Who knew when Peter would be back from Romania? London needed someone to fill in while Peter was away, especially with the way things were going right now. The hospital needed it. And Aly needed it.

Peter had gone to see Rolf, who was only too happy to comply. As he usually was. Rolf seemed to have no qualms with bringing anyone back for the flimsiest reasons imaginable. He was becoming more and more morally corrupt in his old age. Angels freaked Peter out. Especially when they muttered to themselves about granting requests and restoring balances as Rolf had done when Peter asked. But he needed Rolf, so he was, at least, glad that Rolf would do this for him, muttering and all.

When Rolf returned with Thomas, Peter was quick to hug his best friend, even though Thomas was very, very naked. "Thomas, it's...it's so good to see you." Peter said into Thomas' shoulder.

"Hey, you too." Thomas sad, hugging Peter back tightly. "Thanks, Rolf." Rolf nodded and he left the two men to it. Thomas let go of Peter and he went for the clothes, using the movement as an avoidance for talking about the events surrounding Charon and Jax. Peter could tell Thomas' face was masking pain, but he didn't bring it up. Instead he let Thomas get right to the point. "Rolf says you're heading off to Draculasville?"

"There's demons in Romania." Peter said, not even blushing now that Thomas was getting dressed in front of him. He'd seen it all before, after all. "They're terrorising people, and they have an angel captive. I have to stop them, but I can't just leave. Not now..."

"I can play Peter." Thomas said, pulling on some socks. "I'll hardly be you, but I'll try my damndest."

Peter gave Thomas a fond smile. Thomas always said things like that. In all honestly, Peter didn't think there was anything special about himself. Thomas was the hero type, not him. At least not in his eyes. The world would be a lot better off with Thomas around. In fact...Peter would give anything if the world could have Thomas in it full-time. Simply because Thomas would do such good. It would make Spectre beyond happy, and the poor man could use all the happiness he could get right now. And Thomas' family too...they would love to have him back. Thomas was fearless. He gave his all to save people. The world needed someone like him, and in Peter's eyes, it needed Thomas more than it needed Peter. Peter thought it was a pity that Thomas had been the one to lose his life that day, fourteen years ago. Peter sometimes wished it had been him instead. Even now he would give his life for Thomas'. He vehemently wished he could. Especially right now. For Spectre. Having Thomas back might soften the blow... But Peter was going to live forever, and Thomas was dead and there was nothing he could do about it. "Thomas, you'll do more than try. Thank you. Thank you so much for being here."

"Of course. I'd do anything for you." And he needed to be here for his husband too. That he was sure of. Thomas rose and he clapped his friend on the back.

"I know. And I'd do anything for you. It's okay, you staying with Aly right? I mean...I understand you won't be at first. I wouldn't want you to be anywhere but with Adrian right now."

"And that's where I'll be. And afterwards...Spectre and I can be together when Aly doesn't need me, or he can stay at your place sometimes. It's not like I'll never see him. I would never not see him. When does he get back?"

"They're leaving pretty much right after their concert, so early tomorrow morning. About the same time I'm leaving which means I won't get to see them. I wish I could.... Tell them I love them. And I'm glad they're home. And Thomas, I'm glad you're home."

Thomas nodded and he slipped his hand into Peter's. "I'm glad I'm home, too, Peter. God am I glad I'm home. Come on. Show me the things I have to do in the hospital. Distract me. Please."

And that was easy enough for Peter to do.
