Do not mess with Lavinia (Lavinia, Lane)
Lavinia could be a scary woman when she wanted to be. Sure she was sweet and cuddly and occasionally spikey when she wore her spikes. But she had a dark side which wasn't just listening to death metal music and befriending bikers. After two days of worry for her grandson, combined with the stress of trying to calm down her children when she was anything but calm herself...she was ready to bust some heads. Or some balls. And she knew just where to start.
She had gone to the school, looking for Lane, but he wasn't there. After threatening several youngsters, Lavinia came to know that Lane spent most of his time in the arcade of a local shopping centre like a real loser. Of course...when she arrived there she was told he'd just left, by a rather bored man working behind the credit counter. Lavinia gave him twenty quid, and she received a description and directions for her money.
Just outside the shopping centre was a carpark lined by a few trees. It was cold and most people were inside or at home. But not Lane. Lavinia called his name and when he turned around with raised eyebrows, she ran up to him. "Can I help you, Gramma?" He asked, pulling out a cigarette to light.
Lavinia arched her own eyebrows in return. "First off..." She said, pulling the cigarette out of his mouth and breaking it in half. "You smoke in front of me, and I will make you eat this." Lane took one hell of a gigantic step back. Where the hell had this feral old lady come from. "Second, if you call me gramma again, I will tie you in so many knots, you'll shit your eyeballs."
"What the fuck!" Lane turned to leave, but Lavinia grabbed him. And she was incredibly strong for a 76 year old, thanks to yoga and her daily jog.
"I am not finished!" She said firmly. "I know you've been seeing Julian Littleton lately. Tell me what you sold him before I smoke you."
"Nothing!" Lane protested. "I don't sell drugs!" And he didn't. He wasn't a dealer, he'd only gotten Julian interested because his dealer had said if he didn't bring in new business, heads would roll.
"I didn't say word one about drugs." Lavinia whispered.
"I...er..I-"
"I'll rephrase the question. Tell me what you got my grandson addicted to. Now."
"Fuck off, Hag!" Lane twisted away from her, but Lavinia slapped him hard and grabbed his arm again.
"You have no idea, Kid." She sneered and Lane very nearly shat his pants. This was a fucking scary old lady!!
"He was in pain!" Lane protested, looking around for someone to help, but there was no one.
"That is what doctors are for? Are you a goddamn doctor?" Lavinia asked. "Are you?!" She knocked him over the head again and Lane squealed. Lavinia let him go and she took a step back. "What the fuck did you give him!?"
"Heroin! Okay, I gave him heroin, fuck off!"
"And where is he now?!"
"He..." Lane looked confused at that, and he looked up at Lavinia, shocked. "Isn't he at home?"
"No he's not at fucking home?! If he was, why the fuck would I be asking a cockroach like you questions out here on a shithole of a day?!" Lavinia clipped him upside the head again because he was clearly stupid.
"OW! Fuck! Wench! I don't know where he is! I thought he was just sick today or something!" Lane said, rubbing his head.
A security officer who had heard Lane's cry of pain, made his way towards the pair of them. Taking a look at Lane and then a look at Lavinia, he said, "is there a problem, Ma'am?"
Lavinia gave Lane a twinkly-eyed look and then she turned to the guard. "Oh thank goodness you arrived! He stole my handbag!" She wailed. "And when I grabbed it back and tried to get away, he....he assaulted me! I never!"
"You bitch!" Lane shrieked and he was promptly apprehended by the guard.
"I'm very sorry about that ma'am. We'll have him dealt with. You'll have to sign a statement, if that's alright? At the security office. I hope this won't make you less likely to shop at Sunnyvale Gardens."
"Oh, no sir. Not when there are big, strong men like you to save little old ladies like me." Lavinia winked and the guard chuckled, hauling away a protesting Lane as he did so. Lavinia following behind, giving Lane triumphant looks.
Once they'd gotten Lane inside, they'd find heroin on his person. And he was promptly arrested for assault and possession. Lavinia felt like she'd accomplished much today. But their Julian was still missing.
