Heee, if she only knew (Peter, Liz)
Peter had taken his nap just like he said he would, and when he woke up, it was to a blond woman standing over him. "GUH!" He squealed, recoiling so quickly it made his entire body ache. "Fucking...Liz! Jesus!"
Liz just smiled at Peter through her tears and then she practically jumped on him to hug him, climbing up on the bed and on to him, forgoing all ideas of modesty. "I love you, Peter!"
"I love you too." Peter said, patting his sister on the back and looking like a stunned muppet. "It's okay, you know. I'm okay."
"But you weren't." Liz said, finally pulling away. "You weren't and I hated it." Liz wiped her eyes and let out a breath.
"You're still...straddling me." Peter blinked.
"Oh, right." Liz moved so she was sitting beside Peter. "I'm sorry I didn't see you last night. I was...at a bar."
"Oh, Liz..." Peter reached for Liz's hand. "A bar? You're not allowed to go to bars. Not...without me."
Liz gave Peter a Look, but she squeezed his hand. "Don't worry, I'm not about to turn myself into another alcoholic. It was just hard. Hard because I've taken care of you for so long and I couldn't anymore." Liz pushed her hair out of her eyes with her free hand. "I was...I was the only one left. I didn't handle that so well."
"I don't think I'll handle it so well either, when it's me." Peter said truthfully, which was the reality of the situation. It would be him that was left behind, not Liz. "But I'll imagine your disapproving face watching me and I won't be able to drink for fear you'll zap me with lightening." Peter gave her a soft smile. "Which you know you would do, were it possible."
"Well, you'd make the best face." Liz winked and she ran her fingers through her little brother's hair. "Are you really okay, Peter?" She was more than slightly worried about his mental state. Usually because sometimes he seemed fine and then he...strapped demons to electroshock therapy beds and left them there to charbroil.
"I'm...I think I am." Peter shrugged. "It'll probably take a few days to catch up with me because everything is so..." Peter made a hand gesture that perfectly illustrated 'crazy'. "Physically I have some healing to do. Some is putting it lightly. My body went through something that should have killed it and...they don't really have rehab for that... As for my brains...I'm just relieved to be out of that place. I think it'll take a few days to get to me that I was stuck there for 5 days. For now, I can just relax and enjoy being with my family again. And knowing their names and who they are. Did you know I told Aly repeatedly that I was a priest and I demanded to know where I was? I thought she'd kidnapped me."
"Yes, because you did the same thing to me. Even though you recognised me much longer than you recognised Aly."
Peter made a guilty face. "Poor Aly."
"She was incredible. She knew exactly how to care for you. How to calm you down when you were...less than calm. How to talk to you through everything. Even if you didn't know who she was, she knew exactly what to say. She cleaned you up...she was there through everything."
Peter turned red. "Gross. The cleaning up thing, not the Aly being there thing. I know how incredible she is. I should buy her a Ferrari, but she has all my money."
Liz snorted. "Tough break, Kiddo." And she ruffled his hair.
"Argh, don't anger it!" Peter said, hands flying to his hair to attempt to control the masses.
