With Cai's hands on him, Danny was able to take several deep and calming breaths. "No," he said, moving to grip Cai's shirt tightly because that was kind of like holding onto him without actually making skin to skin contact. "No, I- But thank you so much, just don't go anywhere."

Greg's lip was bleeding as he turned to glare at Zoe. "I remember you, you filthy bitch. Do you still dream about me?"

"SHUT UP!" Danny screamed at Greg because he cannot stand Greg taunting Zoe about his mental violation of her. "You shut up, don't talk to her like that!"

"They know how pathetic you are now, Dan," Greg says, turning to his nephew instead. "How long before they abandon you?"

Danny has always struggled with feelings of worthlessness, but there was no hesitation when he said, "never gonna happen, arsehole."

"You begged-"

"You were starving me!" Danny finally screamed, since they all have already heard what he did anyway. "You were fucking starving me and the only way you would feed me in the end was- Are you fucking kidding me, I could feel my fucking body eating itself! Of goddamn course I did whatever you told me to do!"

"Oh, Danny-" Dylan said sadly.

"Don't you dare pity me," Danny hissed, his fist tightening in Cai's shirt.
