Zoe didn't want to hang up on him either. She'd made her way to the front of the house and had her banging forehead pressed against the cool glass as she watched the driveway. Hanging up on Cai had been easy but the longer Zoe stayed on the phone with Danny, the less she wanted to be on her own.

But she did have to call more people. "Yes," she said, reluctant but forcing herself. "I do need to. I'll call you back when I can, Danny." But she still didn't hang up, not yet. She needed to check the Danny-roster and find out who was watching him tonight, but some stupid clingy part of her needed to hang on the line with Danny just a few moments more.
