Zoe had been really worried about seeing Danny again. She and Rachel had talked about his cutting for a little bit after he went home at lunch time, enough to tell Zoe that Rachel knew about it, and was worried yeah but not deathly worried. It sounded like Rachel had big, bright, optimistic blind spots where Danny was concerned. Nothing bad would happen to him again. "I'm looking after him now," Rachel had said, cheerily. "I won't let him be sad."
Zoe had started to say that she thought it was a bit more complicated than that, but then the bell had rung, and she had to go to Critical Thinking and Rachel had to go and do her debate.
But now here they were, and Danny didn't look sad. Which just went to show what Zoe knew about relationships and looking after people, didn't it?
"Hulloo," Cai greeted the dog like an old friend, embracing the rough tongue and dog breath. Rachel grinned down at them, then gravitated toward Danny.

"Are you alright?" Zoe asked Danny, eying him up.
